…my mentor said to me…

“Buy hosting from a reputable company”

Reliability, security and speed are important aspects of owning your own blog / website.

Treat your blog / website like a business and buy your hosting from a company that specializes in hosting.

These are the 3 companies I use and can recommend:

BlueHost

HostGator

LunarPages

Use any of these 3 and you cannot go wrong.

I have a good experience with Host Gator and I really admire there fast customer service. Specially when it comes to some technical problem. I haven’t tried lunar and blue host but might consider them in the future.

Andrew,I use BrainHost for my hosting and I am not particularly happy with them. In the last 3 months my site has been down on average 35 minutes a week. This is well above what they advertise.Does anybody else have this problem?
I will look at HostGator in the future

      David,

I think that is pretty bad. As you can see from other comments…HostGator get great reviews.

Hostgator no doubt is the best hosting company I’ve ever come across so far. Their customer service is just amazing, very quick to respond. I had to discuss about changing plan and they responded with immediate effect.
