WordPress SEO Plugin: Do We Need Another One?

People rave about the All-in-one-SEO-pack plugin, others swear the Platinum SEO plugin is the best. Then there are others who say use the Thesis theme and you don’t need any WordPress SEO plugins. And there are several other WordPress SEO plugins to choose from.

Which one is the best? Who  knows?

But wait for it…another WordPress SEO plugin is being created by Yoast.

Do we really need another one?

If it’s being created by Yoast…then YES!

Yoast’s reputation on WordPress SEO is second to none and if he is now entering the market with his own SEO plugin…then it is worth watching…very closely.

I shall be.

Yesterday Yoast blogged about Video Site Maps and how his SEO plugin will have it covered.

Check out this short video with Matt Cutts (Google) talking about the importance of video site maps:

I’m eagerly waiting for the release…are you?

Do we need another WordPress SEO plugin? Please share your views in the comments below.

I am just beginning to get the courage for video’s. I was wondering if maybe that being the case, is this something I should be thinking about.
You being the very knowledgable guy you are I just thought I would ask your opinion.
Thanks Andrew for the information and always keeping me up dated on the new information and plug ins.

I’d need to see some clear evidence that it will do a better job for SEO than the Thesis theme I use for my blogs.

I’ll keep reading here for further details…

I do not mind more plugins. What I would like to see is someone put all the goodness of each SEO plugin into one mondo project – why? Well, it makes things far more simple. People are using 15-30 of the same plugins from the WordPress plugin Repository.

Why not beef up the ones we have that are useful. Plugin developers could tag team and just make one heck of a plugin!

      Nile,

That would take too much sense!

Seriously, perhaps that is what Yoast is doing – let’s hope so, yes?

Yoast is one of the most respected members of the WordPress community & has some great knowledge when it comes to SEO. To be honest & replying to above comment, I’d trust his opinion a lot more than Thesis!

I like these plugins and want to try this one. We all need all the traffic help we can get. I host with DreamHost and they tell me it is a violation of my TOS to use these plugins! I was surprised and even shocked when they removed them. I am looking for a new host. Any Ideas?

    • Andrew June 21, 2010 at 12:08 pm #

      Bruce

I find what DreamHost say quite staggering. These plugins are used by thousands!

I like Bluehost – not too expensive, reliable and they allow domain add-ons for just $10.

I think all in one SEO is okay with me, but if Yoast SEO plugin is better than all in one SEO, then, I will go for Yoast SEO plugin.

I have been using a LOT of video on my blog in the last few months because it comes natural to me most of the time and my readers seem to love it, but I have also been worrying about what seo benefits I am losing.

Will be interesting to see what happens.

    • Andrew July 31, 2010 at 7:49 am #

      Chad,

I like doing video as well so am looking forward to see what Yoast does.

I’m just getting into video blogging and looking through all of the video sitemap creation plugins, I found only one by Amit that I can’t get working on my site. So I’d be excited to use his plugin. I see that he’s using it on his site already, and created a site map, http://yoast.com/video_sitemap.xml

I can’t wait to get a hold of it. Will you announce it here when it’s live?

    • Andrew August 22, 2010 at 7:14 am #

      Haroun,

Thanks for dropping by. I shall annouce it here.

Thanks Andrew, and for the guides too. I’ll read em and get back to you about them, a pity about my spelling errors in the above comment. But I think you get the message 🙂

You are welcome, re: guides. I hope they help.

Absolutely right. Anything by Yoast is a real gem. So I am waiting for the official release of the WordPressSeo Plugin. Though I have Thesis on my blog and I hear that Thesis is in-compatible with the WordPressSeo plugin by Yoast, I am eagerly waiting.

    Thanks.

    • Andrew June 14, 2011 at 12:24 pm #

      Prasenjit

I’m waiting as well…although it is available I feel it is not stable enough.

Google is getting smarter by the second. Do you think without these seo plugins, no wp site may rank? What’s the implications of not using one?

    • Andrew October 10, 2011 at 4:57 pm #

      Implications of not using one?

      Huge!
