Do you know a person who doesn’t have a twitter account?
Or someone who doesn’t have a Facebook account?
I bet you, almost all people you’ll ask would say they have such accounts.
And why?
Because using these types of social networking sites are widespread, it’s the trend and you’d feel really left out if you’re not doing it.
This may be the reason why almost all on-line businesses are using social media.
But there are other reasons why people use social media. Go ahead and read these articles to know why social media is important.

Hi Andrew, there is a wide range opinions about what social media networks are for, and I have read many opinions. The best that convinced me is that social media is way to get people know about you. It is a way of saying “hey I am here”.
…and building on-line relationships.

Hi Andrew
As you know I am a regular Tweetheart 🙂 I love Twitter and networking with other enthusiasitc tweeters.
Have found so many good articles through twitter streams and also I interact with others there too. Easy to tweet a quick question and get an immediate answer. Much quicker than email; especially with time zone differences.
Have not hurried to get my follwing count up. Done it naturally as want to keep it real. Most of the people who follow me actually read my posts and are active on Twitter and with blog hopping and commenting.
Thanks for the extra information for us to read too. Much appreciated Andrew.

We could all learn from the approach you take to social media and relationships.

Awesome links, I think social media obviously goes far beyond just Twitter and FB and it’s nice to see bloggers like you shining a light on what else is out there, great collection!
Tony
I’m glad you liked the links.
Andrew
Nope, no Facebook account. 😉
good stuff, i think social media is really exploding these days and it is hard to ignore all the publicity you can get by taking some time to get into it.
Daniel
Social media is hard to ignore but it can also suck you in and take over your life!

I know a few different people without a Facebook account. They say they plan on getting one but just haven’t done it yet. They’re missing out on a great opportunity. Thanks to Facebook I’ve gotten a lot more exposure for myself and my blog. I’ve built strong connections with others that I never would have otherwise.
Alan,
Many of my clients are now asking me to build Facebook pages for them. They are realizing how important it is.

Andrew,
I have NEITHER. Never signed up for either service.
I could not see the point of Twitter, still can’t, stopped trying.
Facebook is more intriguing but I still think that it’s going to wear off and become insignificant eventually.
I am pretty close to maybe someday putting up a facebook business site, if there is such a thing.
I’m going to check out your seven articles above. Thanks.
Rob,
Facebook is pretty big at the moment and I am doing much more research in how best to use it.
I’m thinking of perhaps creating my own Facebook product…but I need to do much more research before I do.

I’d like to add that in today’s generation, Company makes their own profile in social media sites wherein they could post job vacancy in their company. It actually makes easier for the company to look for a qualified application online and a faster transaction.
