Up and Down blogging times 21 August

affiliate marketing strategySo this is what happened this week:

The ‘up’ times

Blogging and Traffic

I’m still writing and posting blogs posts at least once a day.

As a result, I’ve had 15% more visitors this week compared to last week. Not as good as last weeks jump of 20%, but I am certainly not complaining.

I think a target of 10% increase per month, would be good, which I am easily achieving (at the moment!).

I shall carry on blogging at least once a day and I am hoping my efforts will generate more and more traffic.

Ninja Affiliate Plugin

You may have seen my posts regarding this Ninja Affiliate plugin that I purchased back in July but didn’t install until this week:

$30 off Ninja Affiliate Plugin

Monetize your blog

Well the good news is in 4 days I have recovered my investment in buying the plugin and from now on, everything is profit and for literally no work.

Even more good news…if you are quick, you can purchase the same plugin which has a $30 offer until the end of TODAY only.

BAD NEWS…if you are reading this after 21 August…you missed out on one great bargain…sorry.

Firefox

In last weeks ‘up and down times post’, I mentioned I was having problems with the slowness of Firefox. Well this week I upgraded to the latest version of Firefox and, so far (touch wood!) I’ve not experience such slowness, so hopefully everything is ok.

Google Position 2

When I first started my on-line business, I started in the “self-development” niche. This was based upon my 25+ years career as a Manager. So I wrote (and still do) about the skills associated with being a Manager. Here’s my self-development site: Manager Skill

About a year a go, I was lucky enough to team up with Darren LaCroix. Darren is the 2001 World Champion of Public Speaking and we co-authored a product together.

Public speaking is a crucial skill, no matter what your job is and products relating to this subject, sell well on-line.

So I created a sales page.

Anyway, about a month ago I decided to change my keywords I was going for, do some marketing and now for one of the new keywords my sales pages is in Google position 2.  Now just hope the sales come in!

The ‘down’ times

Ninja Affiliate Plugin

I wish I had installed the Ninja Affiliate plugin on the day I purchased it. If I had I could be a few hundred dollars richer!

(Some) Web Design Companies

You may have read my previous posts on some of these so-called web site companies (see my rant here).

Well this week I have another rant to get off my chest.

You see, one of my new clients this week already had her website and blog set-up. And she wanted me to make some changes. Not a problem.

And here’s the rant. There was one change I couldn’t do. It had to be completed by the original web design company.

Ok, fair enough until I contacted them and they said:

“It will cost $30 and the whole site could be down for up to 2 weeks”

This was a 10 minute change.

Although $30 is a bit steep, I can understand they have to charge but the whole site down for 2 weeks!

Why?

They couldn’t explain.

The client and I decided not to go ahead with the change.

Who can afford to have their site down for 2 weeks. The client said any changes they made in the past, the site was down for at least a week.

Then the client explained she pays a monthly fee of $39 for the web company to generate traffic. For the past few months, the company have attracted approx 20 visitors a month!

20 new visitors for $39!

Now that’s a farce.

With the changes I made and a little bit of marketing, the client has had over 500 visitors in the last 4 days. That’s more than what she has had in the whole of the past 3 months. So this last paragraph should be in the ‘up’ times section, shouldn’t it?

What were your on-line “Up’s” and “down’s” this week

Blogging every day sounds like a good idea but coming up with content would really be challenging after a while.
