A lot of bloggers, entrepreneurs or online business owners are using social media as an advertising tool.
With the use of social media channels like Facebook, Twitter, Digg and many others, one is able to freely promote oneβs own blog, products or service.
So, we should take social media marketing seriously, shouldnβt we?
And just how would you do that?
Here are some blog posts from well-known online figures that can help us to achieve social media success.

Fantastik links. The best one for me is the one writen by Susan Gunelius. I espeically like the 3rd tip she gives in that artcile;
“Acknowledge and recognize your audience”.
I have seen this not done by so many people on sites like twitter. They just bombard their followers with ads and marketing messages without ever trying to make a connection with the followers or getting to know them a bit more.
I know when you have thousands of followers, its hard to get to know all of them in a deep level, but there are things you can do to let them knwo you are not just here to constantly bombard them with your ads.

I agree and I know I can improve my Twitter relationships.

Hi Andrew
Thanks for the resources. I am active in Twitter and I see social media as a must for my business. It’s amazing how many bloggers neglect this important aspect. I have found by being active it has brought me tons of new visitors to my site and also put my blog out there in places it wouldn’t have been seen.

How long do you spend on Twitter and do you set aside certain times of the day?
Andrew
I forget what the right answer to that one is Andrew so I’ll just say for as long as I am enjoying myself lol
I have set times due to time zone differences which make it hard for us in Perth!!! So late nights are becoming normal as well as fairly early mornings π
I see it as an integral and important part of my networking as I have found so many blogs to visit and people to interact with there. If used correctly it is a powerful tool.
Tend not to spend time on FB although few of my blogging buddies are into it so have to go over once in awhile.
Also I have been selective about who I follow and not gone for the numbers. I know this is not what everyone advises but I would rather get my numbers up at a rate that I know who I am interacting with.
I regularly go through and see who is active and who is not. And the spammers get deleted quickly.

Well I’m not good with social media either so I hope I can learn from one of these posts and eventually implement it on my own
Melvin,
We could all improve – you are not alone!
Andrew
Great post, but I think most ppl should ask themselves whether social media success is worth their time. It’s great to communicate with your customers, but is social media always the best way to do so? i find emailing your customers is a better way and a more surefire way to gain more conversions.
I think social media can be used to get new customers…not something to use to communicate with your existing customers.
