True Andrew, the content is the most vital. Intros & Outros aren’t necessary at all. It’s important to get your point across to others in your video and avoid interest waning due to music playing for 30 secs or so.

    Best wishes

    Catherine 🙂

Agreed! Who remembers the intro music anyway?

Yes, Most people don’t pay attention to intros anyways. If you feel you want to add one then go for it but most people will just ignore it anyways.

Why do you think people use intros? We know they are not listened to!

I like the fact that you get straight to the point…well done.

At some stage I’d be interested in what equipment you are using to create your videos.

      Great, Steve.

I now have more subject matter for another video!

I’m with you just give me the informations. I don’t need to listen to the music etc. Nice to see you on video.

      Thanks for agreeing with me!

      I appreciate that.

Sure intros and outros add a professional touch to the videos. But I personally don’t pay attention to them. And they do waste time even if they’re a couple of seconds. People want to get started with the information rightaway.

When we think that long introductions are bad, intros are very bad! But that’s just my opinion! Big brands and also many aspiring bloggers use them regularly.

I do understand about branding but these days people just want the content. Perhaps when I’m as big as Apple, I may change my mind!

I think intros and outros are not necessary- but they give the whole thing a bit of professionality and branding as well. For me as a consumer is important that they are not too long- just 4 or 5 seconds to let a logo fly around and thats it 🙂

    • Andrew April 30, 2013 at 5:59 am #

Would you actually remember a 4 or 5 second intro?

      Andrew

Great job buddy. I prefer intros rather than outros. Well said.

Why do you prefer intros to outros?

Hi Andrew , I believe that intros and outros are not mush needed as you have specified in your opinion . However in some case they might be needed. The actual content will have the supreme importance though.

When do you think intros and outros would be needed?

Hi Andrew, I am stil trying to find an ideal theme. I am not ready to dive into YouTube, videos, and intros yet, but when I am ready I will be more knowledgable thanks to you and your post. I really enjoyed reading your post and viewing the videos that you embedded. Thank you.

    Hey Andrew,
Nice video and Thanks for sharing this video with us. Yes, our main concentration is on content not on intros.

    • Andrew May 8, 2013 at 4:15 am #

And that’s how it should be, Sudipto. So many bloggers who make videos tend to concentrate on the intro / outro and provide no real content!

      Andrew

      • Sudipto May 9, 2013 at 3:13 am #

I can’t believe why people give more preference to intro/outro in place of content because in blogging content is everything. Yes, readers wanted to know more about the author but our main focus should be towards content.

  12. Harshit S May 14, 2013 at 8:45 am #

That’s an interesting video Andrew. Personally I don’t think they are as useful anymore as people want to get to the point straightaway without wanting to waste any time.

  13. Nina June 13, 2013 at 9:17 am #

According to me intro is necessary – it is important to set the right tone for rest of the video. It could be possible that person leave the video just after 4 – 5 sec, but if he already has idea about what’s coming after then he may not leave!
    Just my views..

    • Andrew June 21, 2013 at 4:01 am #

      Nina

I think you are missing my point. I am referring to the music intro, not the speaking intro.

How would a music intro set the tone for the rest of the video?

      Andrew
