sexybookmarksOne of my monthly tasks is to update my plugins to the latest versions (after checking the updated version still works with the version of WordPress I am using).

This month, I noticed that when I updated the SexyBookmarks plugin, it needed to be reconfigured. The following notice was displayed at the top of my dashboard. I’m sure it was never displayed when I upgraded before.

The upgrade is easy to re-configure. Click on the link, ‘Plugin Options Page’ you’ll see at the top of your dashboard after upgrading.

You then are provided with a list of options.

You need to pick which social icons you’d like to display. You can pick ‘All’, ‘None’ (and then add them manually by checking each box) or ‘Most Popular’.

I like to click ‘None’ and then pick my own.

These are the ones I have chosen. Are they the best ones?

sexybookmarksI would love to include StumbleUpon but my site is banned by StumbleUpon. I have written to them many times but they refuse to ‘un-ban’ me. Once banned, no matter what the reason, they never un-ban you!

This part is crucial. You can now add how your ‘tweet’ will be written when someone clicks the Twitter icon.

You can see I have said I want my ‘tweets’ to be written like this:

RT @andrewrondeau ${title} – ${short_link} #blogging

${title} is the blog title.

${short_link} is the short link that is created. I use the bit.ly link shortener.

Plus I use ‘#blogging’ which means if people search for the term ‘blogging’ within Twitter, my ‘tweets’ will be displayed in the search results.

Choose your background image. I use the ‘Sharing is Caring’ one.

I leave all other options as the default settings.

Click the ‘Save changes’ button and you’ve finished.
