How you make your blog index quicker, build backlinks and increase your traffic with a task that takes 2 minutes and you only have to do it once

index blogDo you like the title?

It’s true.

By using the following step-by-step approach, it will make your blog index quicker in the search engines, build powerful backlinks and can provide a steady stream of organic traffic.

How?

Using RSS Directories.

RSS Directories hold millions of links to websites and blogs and are some of the most visited websites on the internet.

By adding your blog’s RSS feed to the RSS Directories, every future blog post you add to your blog, will automatically be added to the RSS Directory. And that means it could potentially be seen by thousands of visitors and your blog will receive a powerful backlink from the RSS Directory.

You only have to add your blog’s RSS feed to the RSS directory once and everything is set up to work automatically.

Every time I add a blog post, the RSS directories will be automatically updated and provide my blog with a powerful backlink which helps rank my site and gets my blog indexed very quickly.

You can add your blog’s RSS feed to these RSS Directories:

http://www.feedage.com/

http://www.fybersearch.com/

http://www.feedlisting.com

http://www.plazoo.com

Powerful tip: You can also add your Twitter Feeds, Ezinearticles feeds, Hubpages feeds and numerous other sites.

However, don’t add all these RSS feeds in one day, otherwise Google may think you are trying to ‘spam’ the search engines. Just submit your main blog feed to all the RSS Directories on one day, then a day or 2 later add another feed, then a day or 2 later, another feed, etc.

Remember you only have to submit your feeds once and from then on, everything is automatic.

Well Andrew I come to one new point after reading this article that submission to RSS directory help for index easily by search engine. I think PR also matter for it. Before when my blog PR was 1, my new post post did not index soon, but after I get my blog PR3 my new post index within a few minutes.

But are you going to make use of the RSS Directories?

      Andrew

      • chandan December 4, 2009 at 11:18 am #

Yes I submit RSS directory, That you mention here I have already submitted my feed url to those directories.

  3. Lee Ka Hoong December 4, 2009 at 3:46 am #

My new blog post got indexed in less than a minute after publishing, but my new blog took about 1 week and got indexed once. I think the blog index is depending on how popular is your blog and the age of your blog, backlinks would be in their consideration too. If you have all these, I believe that Google would crawl your blog in daily basis and index your latest post in minutes.

Usually I don’t submit my blog RSS to RSS directories, but worth to try for my new blog though. Thanks for sharing Andrew!

Between, am waiting for your next wonderful guest post for my blog haha! 😀

Keep in touch Andrew my buddy.

    Cheers,

    Hi,
Andrew Rondeau, this understandable topic. When I show your title I thought this is not interesting topic. But once I read details then I realized, your topic is more useful. I have newly made one blog and it took 2 days to index but not getting more traffic. To get good traffic I will follow your tips.

    • Andrew Rondeau December 4, 2009 at 4:25 pm #

      Chris

The traffic you get from the RSS directories will very much depend upon your blog’s niche and the title of your blog post.

  5. Gerlaine December 4, 2009 at 2:46 pm #

I love coming to your blog. I always find out something new. I just added my blog to Feedagg.com as a result of your blog. I will measure the results and post them at my personal site in the near future. I will aggregate maybe a weeks worth of data, before I post.

I will add the other one over the next couple of weeks. Thanx for these great tips.

I want to ask some question that some readers may have (that I have): Why is RSS Directory Software really worth the buy? Can’t I just submit my RSS to the directories myself and they automatically update? Do you have a post that explains RSS software better?
    .-= Gerlaine´s last blog ..Gerlaine Talk Refocus… =-.

    • Andrew Rondeau December 4, 2009 at 4:32 pm #

      Gerlaine,

Yes you can submit your feed to the RSS Directories manually and they automatically update. But adding your blog feed to 30+ RSS directories may take you say an hour?

Then another hour for your Twitter feed, then another hour for your Ezinearticles feed, then another hour…and so on.

Rather than spending hours…I’d rather spend a few bucks and only minutes. What’s an hour of your time worth? A lot more than this tool, I bet!

Here’s a video of me using the tool: Use RSS feed submission to gain more blog traffic

    Andrew,

For the RSS Bot … would this type of mass-submission not be considered spam?

So you use RSS Bot to submit to 30 directories and then each time you right a new post they are submitted automatically?

    Did I get it right?

And how different is this from having rss directories that are automatically “pinged” inside our blog?

    • Andrew Rondeau February 23, 2010 at 10:30 am #

Let me take each of your questions in turn:

For the RSS Bot … would this type of mass-submission not be considered spam?

As long as you spread out the different feeds over a number of days…then no. For instance, today submit your blog rss feed. Tomorrow submit your Twitter feed, day after your FaceBook feed and so on.

So you use RSS Bot to submit to 30 directories and then each time you write a new post they are submitted automatically?

      Did I get it right?

Yes and you automatically get 30 backlinks.

And how different is this from having rss directories that are automatically “pinged” inside our blog?

In most cases, the ‘pings’ just ‘tell’ the directories you have add a new post and won’t provide a backlink.

      I hope this helps.

Very nice article about automatic link building. Using the RSS directories has been something I have read about before, but it always seemed like a big hassle and I was getting good traffic without it, but now I can at least throw something at feedagg easily. Hopefully it will help with backlinking and will inspire me to get setup at more of the RSS directories.

    Thanks again!

It is worth doing – only takes a few minutes for each RSS Directory.

    Good post Andrew,

Although i’ve known about RSS submission directories for a while, it was the first time i heard about RSS Bot. Was curious, does the bot build links in a way that looks natural to search engines such as Google?

If so, might be worth a look.

    Thanks,
    Dwight

    • Andrew September 30, 2010 at 9:19 am #

Just had to thank you for making things so simple and for calling my attention to this fast-easy to do backlinking tip I’ve missed!

I’ve just been an web article writer for two years and I’m trying to get myself educated more about SEM and building traffic because of the price dilution of writing articles.

Signing-up for paid access for more info on SEM/traffic building can be expensive too for beginners, so I am real thankful for bloggers like you.

There are so many things to learn that it can get confusing. So I am bookmarking your site to make sure I’m on the right track in the important matters.

    Big thanks again.

Hi Andrew, thanks for this post, it reminds me to make sure I actually do this, it’s one of the easiest ways to get backlinks to your site, but it’s something I usually forget to do because I generally focus more on other backlinking methods. I hadn’t fully realized how beneficial getting backlinks via RSS directories actually was.
I’ll pay more attention to this in the future.

When I started internet marketing I thought it was going to be easy, but there is a lot to learn. You don’t just put up a website and people will come. RSS feed are something I need to learn more about and your blog on submitting your website to RSS Directoties was very helpful and easy to understand. 30. Mike June 5, 2011 at 3:35 am #

Cool, just read this second blog post and it answered all the questions I had about rss, except for one.

In WP, the default setting for number of posts to submit to a feed is 10. Obviosly I want backlinks pointing to as many posts as possible, but if I raised it to a number like say…200, would that be considered spamming? Would they reject my submission or even ban me? This is the only question I have left…I’ll check back in a couple days.

    Thanks again
    Mike

    • Andrew June 6, 2011 at 4:48 pm #

      Mike,

The default of 10 means the number of posts that are displayed in your feed…not the number that are submitted to your feed.

All posts will be submitted to your feed but when set to 10, only 10 will be displayed at any one time.

It’s surprising to see that very few people make use of the power of RSS; I’ve got websites that receive up to 30% from their traffic through RSS feeds alone. On a side note, the link to the RSS submitter that you were recommending isn’t working anymore; my suggestion is to try RSS Submit (that’s the name of the application) – it is more expensive, but it includes a huge list of RSS feeds.
