Over 90% of the profiles I view on LinkedIn do not use this facility.

Why?

Because not many people realize you can build a backlink using your targeted keyword phrase from LinkedIn!

Watch the video, make the change in your LinkedIn profile and get a back-linkit only takes 2 minutes.

Happy to say that was one trick I knew! but I’m going to change the keywords now. Good reminder.
    Thanks again Andrew!

This is a good point. If there is an easy way to get a link, you should go for it 🙂 I think that backlinks from profiles are a good addition to your links. There are many sites where you can put a backlink to your profile with anchor or only with address (I mean normal sites where you can setup your profil, not some spammy forums).

I agree with what you say…especially about the spammy forums!

    Hi andrew,

Good video. The way you have explained the changes, i do believe I can handle this one without you help. Thank you for the info.
    Blessings,
    Debbie

The Google Panda update is going after keyword heavy anchor text so you don’t want to use the same keywords over and over. It’s important to vary them so that it appears natural.

      Hi Nick,
I wasn’t aware of that actually. Glad to have read the comments here. I didn’t know Google Panda update is going to “somewhat penalize” keyword heavy anchor texts. Better check my website. Thanks!

Great trick, Andrew! Thanks for sharing. FYI, the Google+ button wouldn’t let me thumbs up the article.

      Amy

Sometimes the G+ button doesn’t work for some reason. I see that on many blogs. I just try again and eventually it does work.

Good tutorial and good point I didn’t know you could alter the anchor text.
However – the link is actually a redirect through Linkedin’s own redirect script so I doubt it passes much value, if any than you would assume.

    • Andrew June 20, 2012 at 3:22 am #

      Malcolm,

You are most probably right about the value but I thought, it takes 2 mins and it cannot do any harm!
