A good blogging friend of mine, Tara Roskell, helps wannabe inventors, ideas people, artists and designers promote their work.
She shares many ideas and resources via her blog, http://ideasuploaded.com.
So…why am I telling you this?
A few weeks back she asked me to do an audio interview with her. The interview would cover how inventors could market and sell their inventions via blogging.
And the audio is now up!
Here are just some of the questions I was asked and answered:
- How would you advise a beginner to go about setting up a blog (what software, hosting etc)?
- What benefits are there to blogging that could help an inventor who has a product to promote or sell?
- How can an inventor find suitable subjects to blog about, which would be of interest to their potential buyer?
- If the inventor is not a good writer, what are their options?
- What are some of the best ways to get visitors to your blog and keep them coming back to read more?
- What would be the best way an inventor could try and convert their blog readers into product buyers?
Now you may think the answers are aimed at just inventors.
They are not. They are aimed at anyone who sells their own products.
You can listen and / or download (it’s been downloaded 156 times!) the audio from here:

Hi Andrew, I really enjoyed talking to you, thanks again, and you gave some really useful information for anyone who wants to use a blog to help their business. I actually might do some follow up articles on blogging so I will be sure to check if you have any info which can be included too.
Tara
Let me know if I can help and I really enjoyed the interview.
Andrew
I am listening the interview right now, Andrew, and I am at the 5′ and woow, I wish I had a mentor like yours. I learned everything by myself, and like you I made a hell lot of mistakes, but I think I got some great experiences with those mistakes.
Alex,
I’ve certainly made many mistakes but you do…don’t you?
The secret is not to dwell on them and feel sorry for yourself.
Andrew
Well nice interview and you have nice voice Andrew . Last months I started using Hostgator affiliate system but was not happy . I was thinking that who will come here and buy hosting when we have so many popular blogs on this niche too . But it was just like bingo , when I saw my affiliate reports . I got 23 clicks from different blog post and one of them got converted into sale .
So I will say that – Never underestimate your readers 🙂 .
It’s nice when you wake up and your bank balance has grown via some affiliate sales!
Nice voice? Really! I’m not so sure!
Andrew

Do…Tara is doing some great things.
Andrew
When I first enter the world of blogging I really amazed how blog owners earned money from their blog. Then I asked my self how can I create a blog and earn from it as well so reading is the best method I have used then until I learned SEO and affiliate marketing.

So you don’t like listening to audio or watching videos?
Andrew
Thanks for introducing your friend Tara Roskell and her blog.
I visited her blog listened the interview. Its really informative.
Great – thanks for listening.

Andrew,
Excellent point about how blogging can help you sell if you have a product or a service.
I teach consultants, coaches, speakers, and personal service providers (lawyers, cpas, recruiters, etc.) how to use blogging to create a community, engage and nurture leads, gain referrals, and establish dominant personal branding within their niche or geography.
You’re a great example. I purchased your monthly blog service due to the quality of your blogging, comments, and insights. I’m in California and you’re in England – yet the quality of your blogging established you as one of the most helpful, capable, and smart bloggers out there with the expertise I was seeking.
