    I knew I forgot something!

Is that 30% from you or them?

Thing is, most people don’t think it will happen to them and then it does. And for just a few $ they could be covered.

Thanks for offering the 30%! I’ve been told that WordPress doesn’t automatically back up blogs so this is crutial to have! If Connie has to take a week to explain her hacker story, that should be enough to warn people!

WordPress doesn’t automatically backup your blog…hence the need for such a plugin.

Via Cpanel? That must be manual, right?

I use WordPress for two of the blogs that I manage, so I guess I’m not covered in the event that something happens. I know next to nothing about this topic. The idea that I would even need to have some kind of back-up in place never even crossed my mind. Embarrassing, but true. How do people even end up in situations where they lose their data? Is it solely attributable to hackers or are there other reasons?

    • Andrew April 30, 2011 at 3:00 pm #

      Patra,

Normally it is hackers. Or it could be the host servers get corrupt.

I just like the peace of mind in case it does happen.

I would hate to lose all my work!

You know what Andrew, I see people worrying about their backups when the shit hits the fan – instead of preparing for it.

This is so fundamentally important. I guess I should sign up to this myself! hahaha

      Ayden

It is fundamental…hence me trying to get people aware of the situation and more importantly take preventative action.

Hi Andrew, Are you still using backupbuddy? I have been looking into solutions for my sites. How easy did you find it to set up to store on Amazon S3? Previously I was doing manual backups which is a complete pain, but I recently set up an auto back up with a free plugin which claims to do both db and files but seem to be getting a few errors, so have been looking for alternatives.

Thanks for your help and great info as always
