Controversial: You Only THINK You Want To Be Successful

0 Flares Twitter 0 Facebook 0 Google+ 0 LinkedIn 0 Email -- Buffer 0 0 Flares ×

Take 5 seconds to think of someone successful.

Got someone?

Great!

In order to be successful that person in your head has worked hard for thousands and thousands of hours.

Making mistakes.

Taking risks.

Investing in themselves.

And overall has this huge desire to be as successful as possible.

And even when they are successful…they don’t stop. They don’t retire and give up…they keep working hard and want to be more successful.

Now…

You THINK you want to be successful.

That’s right…THINK.

I say THINK because you don’t really want to be that successful, do you?

You THINK you are working hard but you’re not working that hard.

You THINK you are taking risks but you are not taking BIG risks.

You THINK you have failed but you haven’t really.

You THINK you are investing in yourself by buying a $7 e-book.

But I don’t want you to THINK. I want you to SUCCEED!

Check out this video – I hope it inspires you.

The narration is much more important than what you see. Listen carefully!

Think and Grow Rich. Everything begins with a thought. Everything starts in the mind. Successful people think and then they act. Thinking is good but it’s only the start of the project. By itself it’s worthless. It must always be followed by action.

    • Andrew November 23, 2011 at 8:29 pm #

      Jon,

I agree – it does take action!

Too many people just think and take no action.

Then there are too many people who take action and don’t think!

      Andrew

      • Robert November 28, 2011 at 2:26 pm #

Andrew that is a very powerful statement you just made “there are too many people who take action and don’t think!”
I never really thought about it like that before. But I know many people including myself have done this.

          Robert

          I think we all have!

    Hey Andrew
Cool video. FYI, the links in your Aweber e-mailtoday for the income blogging guide did not work (for me) and I wanted to let you know…
    Cheers
    Mark

    • Andrew November 23, 2011 at 8:31 pm #

      Thanks, Mark.

That’s weird. I did test the links before sending.

      Was you using a mobile?

      Andrew

Then there are those lucky bastards born with a silver spoon in their mouth and inherit success! But, you know their parents worked HARD and took risks! 🙂

      Tony

Lol – very true. But they are a minority, aren’t they?

    Hi Andrew,

Loved the post, certainly very inspirational. I love the quote or saying by Henry Ford…

“Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right”

    • Andrew November 24, 2011 at 10:22 am #

      Chris,

That is a greqat quote. Confidence does come into it.

Well, there are figures on social mobility. . .

I’m interested in making life easier. Lots of poor people work hard (some much harder than rich people). I don’t think it is just about hard work. It is also about finding what things to work at – which can take a while in a new field.

    • Andrew November 24, 2011 at 10:23 am #

      Exactly, Evan.

Just ike Jon said above…thinking is important.

      And so it taking action.

    Andrew,

That was a very powerful video. When we equate the desire to be successful to a fundamental need to breathe, it redefines what is required to be successful.

There were some wonderful words in the video that could inspire many. You do not dare to sleep because your are worried that you might pass an opportunity to be successfully.

Success is for those who are willing to lose their life for it. Without this form of desire we will always be half past six.

How can you show this more to other people? I think many more people need to see this video.

    • Andrew November 27, 2011 at 4:33 pm #

      Jimmy

You can always share this post via Twitter and Facebook – that wuld help spread the video.

It’s true. You really have to put yourself out there in order to be successful. Be willing to take risks, work hard and make sacrfices towards your goal. If you do those things, you greatly increase your chances of success.

    • Andrew November 27, 2011 at 4:34 pm #

      Richard

Question is are you doing that?

      Andrew

  8. Don Gerig November 25, 2011 at 10:17 pm #

Thanks for the video. Certainly with a new year starting many of us need to re-evaluate and get focused. Even though I believe that I have reached success to a certain level, I believe I can go much further. Thanks for the post and motivation.

    • Andrew November 27, 2011 at 4:35 pm #

      Don,

I think something like this video could inspire us to aim for the next level of success.

      Good luck!

      Andrew

  9. Jean November 27, 2011 at 8:58 am #

Great post – I agree we say we want success but don’t want to work for it. I am big on motivation and learning how to be successful I must say this post really motivates me to want success even more. Thanks.

    • Andrew November 27, 2011 at 4:35 pm #

      Jean

What do you think you will do differently as a result of seeing the video?

      Andrew

  10. Aaron Kelly November 27, 2011 at 10:35 am #

The video is really intense, really captivates anyone who watch it 🙂

  11. Malik November 27, 2011 at 4:12 pm #

Right. It’s time to work for success and stop just thinking. Thanks.

    • Andrew November 27, 2011 at 4:36 pm #

      Malik

So what action you going to take?

      Andrew

  12. Paul November 27, 2011 at 6:45 pm #

Ahh…Inspiration by perspiration. It all boils down to “doing something everyday”. Read, do, work, study, research, until you find what will work for you.

I “think” my point came across.
    Paul

    • Andrew November 30, 2011 at 6:21 pm #

      Paul,

      …and then repeat!

      Andrew

  13. Mark November 28, 2011 at 9:03 am #

What a inspirational post It’s time to stand up and achieve what we want. Success can be rated as 80% of failure and 20% of sheer attitude of keep going spirit ..

  14. Robert November 28, 2011 at 2:30 pm #

Hi there Andrew, thank you For posting this article and video. I have heard the narrator in a video before every time I hear it is always fills me with fire and makes me want to think and take action immediately. It also puts a lot of things into perspective to me.

I’m not too sure if this is relevant but the original videos here “http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRfoFGGyRvU”

    great post thanks again

    • Andrew November 30, 2011 at 6:23 pm #

      Robert

Same here – I downloaded the narrative and listen to it when at the gym!

You can think of success our you can be successful, but you cannot be both. Or maybe you can be both but they exist in paradox with each other. It fits nicely with the 1st verse of the Tao Te Ching: “ever desire less, one can see the mystery, ever desiring, one sees only the manifestations and the mystery itself is the doorway to all understanding.”

  16. Lynn Sanders November 28, 2011 at 9:06 pm #

    Damn.
That video made me realize how lazy i got. And now i have a strange strong impulse to get out jogging.
Maybe next time, when i’m not on a deadline.

    • Andrew November 30, 2011 at 6:24 pm #

      Lynn

It’s not just about exercise…it’s about being successful in life.

Meeting your deadline may be taking you forward to be even more successful.

  17. Debbie November 29, 2011 at 4:26 am #

Good job Andrew. I do want to be successful, but at the same time I have to keep a balance also. I realize a woman doesn’t look at it the same as a man, do to the fact that men are raised to be the provider of the family. Yes, the rules have changed, and many women do look at it the way a man does.

Successful to me is building my business, but not losing myself in it so much that I am all work and no play,

Sure hope I said that right, if not I tried LOL!!

Anyway success does come in many forms.
    Blessing to you
    Debbie
    I do like thew video!

    • Andrew November 30, 2011 at 6:29 pm #

      Debbie

Success does come in many forms and if you can balance family and running a business..that is very successful!

Very inspirational post Andrew. I really dnt have much to add to it, but there was just something about the post that I think awaken something in me. Thanks.

  19. Rich S. November 30, 2011 at 3:37 am #

Very inspiration post. I think the most important comment is the point about successful people continuing to work hard even after they have “made it.” Success is a liefestyle. Losing focus on your goals can cause your successes to be gone in an instant.

  20. Peter December 1, 2011 at 10:34 am #

This really is a great video. It really is motivating that man talking really talks you in to keep on going on and on and on. Great video!

  21. Yasir December 1, 2011 at 9:40 pm #

I find this post/the video very inspiring. Thank you Andrew. A lot of people need to be reminded that you can’t expect to be successful in just one day; you can’t always hope that one day you’ll wake up wealthy or that you’ll wake up reaching your goal when in fact you’re not even putting in hard work, taking risks, etc. Looking forward to more nice posts from you.

  22. Grady Pruitt December 5, 2011 at 8:23 pm #

That video is a bit of a wake-up call. I’ll have to admit that in the past, I have not pursued success as if it was the only thing that I had to have. I have begun in recent months to change that. And I will to continue to do so.

    Thanks for sharing!
