All-in-One SEO is a great plugin. One of the first plugins i install after installing WordPress. I would like to note that some hosting companies have actually banned the use of This plugin because of it’s stress on shared hosting servers. There is another free alternative that is basically the same thing, Platinum SEO. Same settings just coded better i guess.

Great video though, looking forward to more. One tip i would like to give is that you can also add words in those category/title/post fields. For example: If you had a blog that just did book reviews you could put “%post_title% Book Review” in the post title field.

How do I find the keywords you’re trying to rank for? I’d love to be able to analyse your links and try to find out where I’m going wrong or what I need to do better.

I really don’t understand why folks still promote AIO over Platinum SEO.

Platinum IS AIO plus MORE. Seems like a no-brainer to me. lol

I started using Platinum SEO because it had automatic 301 redirection and more flexibility as it supports noindex and nofollow metatags.

      • Dennis Edell April 16, 2010 at 10:09 pm #

The 301 was my reason for switching also.

      Dennis,

I’ve read some bad press about Platinum – so I decided not to change over.

Perhaps it has been updated since then.

Have any comparisons between the 2?

I use Platinum SEO over All in one SEO too. They even have a nifty migrate from All in one SEO option too.

Also, one thing that I might point out about your videos is that if you’ve performed those searches before and ever clicked your links (like I see you have based on the purple color) Google tracks that and personalizes the results for you. So there is a chance you are ranking higher there then others might see. Do you use an external tool to track your rankings in the SERPS?

      Chris,

Why do you use Platinum over All-in-one?

I also use ScribeSEO which works with all-in-one and not Platinum.

I believe my rankings are true – I use Market Samurai to track my rankings.

Is Market Samurai a self hosted solution or is it something you use online?

As for Platinum I did some research a while ago and everyone was saying that even though All In One was more well known (at the time) Platinum had a ton of extra features.

Can’t remember all the reasons to be honest though.

I actually did, I actually do think that Platinum does offer more features, I just never had any use for those particular ones, I might take another look. The 301 could be useful, the noindex, nofollow portion does not apply to any pages or posts on my site.

@JR – “the noindex, nofollow portion does not apply to any pages or posts on my site.”

          None. Really?

@Andrew – I needed convincing too. i dunno how long it took before someone could actually tell me differences.

The primary one that did it for me was the automatic 301 redirect for permalink changes…I tend to do that more then most. lol

There’s also a bunch of the noindex, nofollow post/page options available…still more, I’ll be back when I can if you need more.
