Excellent tips Andrew. I really like your “New Visitors” link and for some reason I hadn’t caught that before until this video. I think I might steal that one.

Thanks Mike. Yeah – go ahead and steal it.

I also use the redirect comments plugin to direct people to it after they have added their first comment.

      How’s the contest going?

      Andrew

contest is going fine. tomorrow is last day to enter. i think there’s about 25 people that have followed the directions and did both the comment and subscribed to the group.

      Mike,

Did the contest match what you expected to gain from it?

I really thought I’d get a few more entries but all in all not bad. I’ll have a post about it in the next couple of days.

Excellent video. Curious what screencasting program or service you are using?

I’m not sure how I missed this, but we do not have a contact page on our blog! We have one on our static website, but not our blog. I guess I’ve always assumed folks would use the link in the blog entry, or start searching for a property. Kind of a stupid oversight, actually. I will have one up within a day or so.

Also, are you using any kind of lead capture and/or management with the contact form?

      Colleen,

I use Camtasia to make the screen recordings.

You can use http://camstudio.org/ which is free.

My conctact form is just that – nothing else.

Thanks Andrew. I did install a contact form, thanks to your blog entry! I ended up using the plugin Contact Form 7 and placed the code in a text widget in my sidebar. This way, each post has a way for a visitor to contact me. 🙂 I’m considering purchasing Camtasia, btw. I’ve been using screenr.com but the 5 minute limitation has been a bit of a hurdle in a few cases.

Why not try Camstudio first as it is free.

I like it. This way people really have an easy time to contact you and can do it from the most important parts from your site.

Availability definately increases the blog trust.

I was using the same kinda look for my contact page but since I added a picture to it the number of people who contact me increased 😀
