Nickelback - Rock StarSince the beginning of the year, I’ve been going to the gym 3 times a week. I must lose some weight!

I get there nice and early – 6.30am – just as the doors open.

You’d think I’d be alone or perhaps just a few of us…but I’m not.

There’s about 50 of us! Young and old.

All wanting to get fitter, leaner or more muscular.

At the weekend, I purchased a great CD to listen to while I’m sweating away on the running and rowing machines.

The CD is called: 101 Running Songs

It’s brilliant. It really motivates me.

Today, there I was running away and the song “Rock Star” by NickelBack started playing and it’s the first time I’ve really listened to the lyrics.

Here’s a video just to remind you:

The lyrics got me thinking about us bloggers and for a bit of fun, I came up with my own lyrics:

“Blog-ger”

I’m through with not knowing what to do
With the technicalities of my blog
It’s like I never understand
And it’s such a hard slog
This easy work hasn’t turned out
Like the adverts said it would

(Tell me what you want)

I want an awesome blog
Like Darren Rowse has got
And by only working just the 4 hour week
And a great big mansion and a flashy car
For my wife and me

(So what you need?)

I need a million paying customers with their wallets out
Blogging buddies with a lot of clout
Gonna join the inner circle
And tour the world first class

(Been there, done that)

I want my own private jet
With expensive food on tap
First class service and then join the big boys set
Somewhere between Yaro Starak and
John Chow is fine for me

(So how you gonna do it?)

I’m gonna buy a $27 e-book that tells me everything
Gonna get on page one for Google and Bing

Hey hey I wanna be an Blog-ger
Hey hey I wanna be an Blog-ger

We’ll do nothing all day except drive flash cars
I’ll have a wardrobe full of Hugo Boss
Cause I’m a big blogger now
And I don’t give a toss
With just $27 I’m now one of the stars

(So how you gonna do it?)

I’m gonna buy a $27 e-book that tells me everything
Gonna get on page one for Google and Bing

Hey hey I wanna be an Blog-ger
Hey hey I wanna be an Blog-ger

(Words by Andrew Rondeau)

Just a bit of fun? What do you think? Think I have a number one hit? The lyrics are copyright, so if anyone records them and makes millions of dollars, I want half!

That was funny! Andrew, I didn’t know you were funny. Learn something new every day. Brilliant! And certain to come true now that you’ve gotten clear about your goals and have them written down. Woot! Woot!

I’m only funny once a year – you will have to wait until next year now to see the funny side of me again!

That’s great. My boss at work has been trying to encourage me to get my blog going but he never thought of writing a song about it! And I love Nickelback, too

For a minute there I thought you were quoting the actual lyrics to the real song. Didn’t really fit the image of the guy in the video either 😉

      Anne,

The video was just there to remind people of the original version. Didn’t you like my lyrics?

Oh, great lyrics. The thing is, I read it and without being familiar with the original song, I thought they WERE the original lyrics at first. I was thinking, “wow, this bearded biker scary dude is also a blogger??”

I’m sure there is a “bearded biker scary dude” who is also a blogger somewhere in the world!

Great rewrite there Andrew. Glad to see you are hitting the gym. I find that working out actually helps me focus, and I do a better job when I am working on my blog. Let that sense of humor hang out a little more. a little laughter every day will make your life easier.

You shelled out 27 bucks? Fool! I found an e-book that tells me everything, plus free bonuses galore, for just 17. You can tell? Come on. Other than that, great piece of humor and writing. Chapeau!

Great lyrics Andrew, but now I want to see you dance to them in a video. Now wouldn’t that be fun. I know you love to dance, so get that music playing and that camera out and really show us what you can do! “The One And Only Andrew Singing and Dancing.”

Serously loved the video and i can see where one would get a great workout listening to it when working out. As for the lyrics, maybe you have a talent there you didn’t know you had.

Don’t give up the day job though, I wouldn’t have anybody to fix my blog for me when I mess it up.

Have a great day and thanks again.

    Dear Andrew –

So now we know what you do on a slow news day.

Definite EXTRADORINARY talent. Keep it up.

But I agree with Debbie. Time for another dance video with your beautiful wife.

That was one of my favorite posts.

    Andrew, man, you Rock!!!

I’m singing this at karaoke, and when I have it down, I’ll get some help from my parody-master friends to record a music video of it. If I make any money, I’ll send you half by a PayPal payment, but don’t go to the bank on that. It’s not likely I’ll get views. let alone traffic.

This is the 3rd great parody I’ve run into. One is to the Fergie song “Glamorous” and the other is to “Redneck Woman”. I won’t elaborate here because your blog is more PG-13 than R or NC-17.

    Great lyrics!
