Every time I build a new blog either for myself or a client, I always add Jeff Johnsons SEO plugin. It’s free, it’s simple to install and automatically makes your blog SEO optimized.

Here’s a short video showing you how to install the plugin.

    Hi Andrew

That looks like an interesting plug-in, which has a lot of angles to it.

I wondered if you’d ever had any problem with it breaking anything in any themes or when you upgrade to new wordpress versions or is it pretty trouble free?

Also I assume that the % of Blog optimisation is based on how many of the recommendations you have implemented.

Is there any other independent way of getting a quick view like this of how well your site is optimised?

      Heather,

I’ve never had any problems with the plugin. I first started using it with WP version 2.6.3, now most of my blogs are on 2.8.2 and I’ve had no trouble in upgrading.

You are right, the % of Blog optimisation is based on how many of the recommendations are implemented.

Unfortunately I don’t know of any other independent way of getting a quick view of how well your site is optimised – and that’s why thousands use Jeff’s plugin.

You can just watch the video and then manually go and install the other plugins recommended without using Jeff’s plugin. But you won’t see the percentage optimised and that gives me a nice feeling when I hit 100% seo optimised!

Please tell us why you think platinum SEO plugin is much better – I would be interested.

What problems did you have installing the Jeff Johnson plugin?

      Thanks.

Thanks Andrew – that does look a useful plugin and pleased that the first plugins mentioned are on my sites already.

There are many mixed messages about SEO so having a plugin guide you like this is very useful for those that don’t want to get confused by the subject or get duped into buying expensive SEO advice from someone.

I’ll try it out myself now.

    Best wishes

    Andy
