Blog Statistics: Pro Blog Stats WordPress Plugin Update

0 Flares Twitter 0 Facebook 0 Google+ 0 LinkedIn 0 Email -- Buffer 0 0 Flares ×

A little while ago I mentioned we (Joel and I) were creating our very first WordPress plugin.

A blog statistic plugin that gathers all the different stats (over 50) required in order for you to monitor the success of your blog.

I also mentioned we were close to launching.

Well…we thought we were!

But with more testers on board we found a few more problems and we are now rectifying them.

We could have launched as we were but going live when you know there are bugs in the software is just not right.

Can you imagine the support headache?

Our reputation would have be ruined…well any little reputation we have!

So we are doing more testing, more bug fixing plus we are adding Aweber stats into the plugin as well.

Aweber was one of the main stats we wanted to include within the plugin when we first started the build (over 6 months ago now!) but they did not have any automatic way of capturing their statistics.

BUT ONLY THIS WEEK…

…Aweber have announced they now have an API interface. That means we can now include Aweber stats into our Pro Blog Stats plugin…automatically.

That’s going to take a little extra work but we are close to launching…honest!

I shall keep you updated on progress.

I’d really like to see what Aweber you’re adding, will you be sending updated plugins to your testers?

    • Andrew November 21, 2010 at 11:58 am #

      Dennis,

We are just finalizing what Aweber will provide via their API and will keep you up to date on progress.

Yes, those testers who have taken the time to test and provide feedback will get the updated plugin.

Ooo that was a shot huh, lol.

I know I haven’t signed onto some of those sites yet, but I will be able to do so this week.

As you’ll see, I’m catching up on my blog launching.

I may not stick with them all, but I’ll do it initially for the testing…you got my other emails, right?

    Hi Andrew,
So glad I came across this post. I have been on the look out for a plug-in that will track all my Blog stats. Can’t believe Aweber have only just come out with an API key. That must have made your life easier.
Look forward to the launch, any ideas when.
    Pete

    • Joel November 23, 2010 at 5:15 pm #

Hopefully soon Pete! It’s difficult to tell on time as we need to make sure it’s properly tested (as much as we can at least) and with AWeber being a new system there may be some hiccups. We will keep everyone updated though!

Got to love the bugs coming up delaying your launch Andrew – **Curses**. Good to see that you guys are ironing it out though. If you have any review copies, I’d love to test it out and promote it for you guys!

      Dwight

It would be crazy for us to launch when we know there are bugs.

I know many would just to get it out and iron them out in the next version but our approach is to get it as bug free as possible.

Perhaps finding more bugs were fate as it coincided with the Aweber API annoucment.

How much time it take for testing process. Please inform me after it introduced in market.

      • Andrew June 6, 2011 at 4:06 pm #

        Edward

We have to ensure there are no bugs in the software.

If we were to issue a plugin with major errors and bugs our reputation would be ‘shot to pieces’.

        Andrew

P.S I shall blog about the fact when the plugin is ready

  14. Paula June 3, 2011 at 8:54 pm #

This is really interesting, especially with the Aweber implementation. Waiting to see it “Live”. Hope everything runs fine and you release it soon, keep up the good work !

    • Andrew June 6, 2011 at 4:07 pm #

      Paula

It has been the Aweber side that has been holding us up. And in fact there are still problems with it.

      Andrew

  15. Adam June 8, 2011 at 6:50 am #

I have stopped using Aweber 2 years ago, not as it is no good, but due to my little usage per month. Wonder if this plugin works for other email optin service with API ?
    Thanks

    • Andrew June 14, 2011 at 12:31 pm #

      Adam,

Possible future versions will work with other email services. Did you have one in mind?

I’m always looking for good WP plugins and this one seems like a winner. I like blog statistic plugin that gathers a large variety of stats. It hard to come across plugins like this.

    • Andrew June 16, 2011 at 8:48 am #

      Steve,

I know I keep saying this but we are very very close to launching the plugin.

      Watch this space!

I would love to see what Aweber is capable of. Seems like a pretty good plugin, will you keep us posted? I definitely want to hear more about it, I can probably use it.

  21. casey October 31, 2011 at 12:00 pm #

I have to say that Aweber still has the best delievery rate of all the autoresponder services. I have been using it for around 8 years now and tried others and been disappointed.

  22. Joe Anderson November 22, 2011 at 8:20 am #

When are we going to see this plugin now? It sounds great!
