I do think website owners are a little too obsessed with backlinks. Of course, they are important but as per my post, “The End Of The Backlink – Long Live Backlinks!” we, website owners, should be providing the best content we can and building on-line relationships.

      That way…backlinks will come naturally.

I greatly enjoyed this post. I opened and read EVERY link. With all the new Google changes, people are having to rebuild their backlinks. I actually agree with your part about the end of backlinks. I am hoping and waiting for this. Content should be key. However, at this point, I still need to put some effort into linking with my clients. I am waiting for the time backlinks are not the major part of website ranking.
Thanks for the the links the the different blogs. I learned a lot and feel better about how important backlink are now and in the future.

    • Andrew January 3, 2014 at 2:55 am #

      Greg,

I agree and I am still waiting. As I said to Naomi above, backlinks are still important (I wish they wasn’t) but we should do our best to build them naturally.

Andrew, I find your “Best Of” a fab resource. It’s valuable from many angles, including the ability to reconnect – or to connect for the first time – with great posts on your blog.

“Best Of” – an often underused resource, used to perfection here (you even present updated versions of the posts listed). Great job, great value.

    Cheers,
    Beat
