BackupBuddy Now Supports Amazon S3

A few weeks ago, I did a review of BackupBuddy.

I shared my concerns on the subject of backups and these days you MUST have a back up policy in place for your WHOLE BLOG and not just the database files.

BackupBuddy completes a backup of your entire WordPress blog including the themes, plugins, settings, widgets, comments AND SQL databases…the entire package!

The makers of BackupBuddy have recently improved the backup facility so that you can now backup to Amazon S3 accounts (as well as email and FTP).

What you need to do now if you need a full backup facility:

  1. Go to BackupBuddy
  2. Buy it
  3. Install it
  4. Backup
  5. Sleep well!

How do you backup the full contents of your blog?

Is this easier than me backing it all up manually every day?

I’ve been looking for something easier and if this is easier then I’d happily part with some money.

      Dean,

You have to set it up – takes about 15 minutes.

Then it automatically backs-up everything at the same time each day (if you set it to back up each day).

It is best to FTP the files to another server or use Amazon S3.

Awesome Andrew.. I am currently doing linux backups from cPanel/WHM direct to a folder that is mounted to Amazon S3, but it is using a custom script.

This plugin will make it MUCH easier for a one-click , few minute setup than my current custom solution.

    Thanks for sharing.

I read your first post about Backup Buddy. Sounds like an awesome plugin. Easier than some other backup options I’ve researched.

    What’s Amazon S3?

      CJ,

      Amazon S3?

It’s a service where you buy on-line storage. Many people use it to backup their blogs, pc data as it is secure.

Andrew — never heard of it. I’ll definitely have to check it out. Guess when you have a TB external storage for just backups, the online versions don’t usually catch my interest.

This is great news, it now possible to backup to Amazon S3 using backupbuddy. Apart from the hosting provider backup, I think it is wise to organise a private backup as well, if the cost is not high.

      Luqman,

I think the plugin is very fairly priced and it is a one-off cost.

Amazon S3 charge for the amount of space you require and again not too expensive – especially for the peace of mind!
