If you are getting a lot of spam comments you might want to try the new plugin from Andy Bailey / Growmap:
This plugin will add a checkbox to your comment form asking users to confirm that they are not a spammer. A nice, simple solution to reduce spam comments.
I don’t get too many spam comments on this blog but on my self-development blog I do. I used to get hundreds every day…now virtually none!
A great plugin…try it.

Thanks for helping spread the word. I still need to get more people to check It Works at WordPress so bloggers who do not know us will know they can trust it.
You are welcome Gail. It’s working great on my other blog!
Andrew

Now no need for people to enter captchas
Planning to add it to my blog . Thanks for super plugin 🙂

Planning or now have added?
Andrew
I know Gail is really excited about this. I remember when she was looking for effective anti-spam plugin cos she was getting more spam than I get visitors to my post every day and wondering how she was going to cope with deleting them all!
I’m sure there will be plenty of grateful users once the word gets out.

I agree, Patricia. As long as the plugin keeps ahead of the spammers!

Hi Andrew
I’m going to give this a try instead of Akismet.
Get fed up looking through spam comments.
Looks simple and most people are saying that it’s effective.
Notice you aren’t using it on this site?
Keith
I don’t get a lot of spam on this blog.
I’ve just installed it on my self-development blog only…so far!
Andrew
Hi Andrew
I think that you made that point in your post – sorry?
BTW – now have the plugin up and running and in the last few hours… no spam.
Fingers crossed.
Hi Keith,
I just want to let you know that the plugin is running on over a dozen blogs I manage or co-manage and working like a charm on all of them.
Seems like most spam comments are left from humans and 95% are filter by Akismet into the Spam folder. But, if you can’t run Akismet for some reason, seems like something that could be helpful.
Happy I found this post in my reader today. I just started subscribing to your blog but have been looking at this plugin on a few other blogs I subscribe to. Looks like it’s time to add it to my site, Im getting tired of real comments going to spam.
John,
it is worth checking out and testing.
Andrew
I downloaded it, now I just need to upload it, crazy day in the office today. Haha.
