When it comes to monetizing a blog you have a lot of options. If you know your audience and are good at marketing, you can try and sell your own advertising. Another alternative is to place advertisements on your site through Google Adsense. Depending on what type of web site you run, your results will vary. In this post we will break down Google Adsense and see if it’s right for your blog?

This is the third post in the new blog expert series called: Successful Corporate Blogs and we talk about a technique that many people DO EXPLOIT…for the wrong reasons!
If you’ve had the misfortune to purchase one of the wrong “guru” courses, the words “easy” and “fast” are thrown around a lot.
“Get to the top of Google in a nanosecond”
“Make a million in a day”
…and blah, blah, blah.
Unless you are incredibly lucky and talented, and have a lot of money to invest in marketing campaigns, it’s not going to happen.

This guest post was written by John Mak who provides solid information about software and other related products.

I never knew I could come up to this level. Working from home and blogging almost full time is something great! I work when I want, and take a break without having to write an official letter to the management or to any boss. It wasn’t all roses, but I believe you can achieve it if you are determined.
“At last! At last!” I hear many of you saying.
Joel and I both agree!
It has taken us over a year, and thousands of dollars - but now we are proud and excited to say:
Here is our first ever WordPress plugin!
It’s been tweaked and tested by many beta testers and some of them are hooked.
Why?
This plugin (which we have called Pro Blog Stats) gives you over 50 different statistics about your blog…all on one page, within your WordPress dashboard. With Pro Blog Stats, you no longer have to log in to all your different accounts (like Google Analytics, Twitter, Facebook) to see your statistics.
We all have our own ways of setting up our blog.
Some have the blog posts listed on the home page, some have a static page.
Some of us list our services…some of us have an about page (which I thoroughly recommend you do have).
But other than your blog posts, the most important pages are as follows. Google expects to see and will give your blog extra credence if they are found.

I’ve been known to be a plugaholic. I love WordPress plugins. At one time, I had almost 70 installed.
Even though I have deleted many, I still have over 40 WordPress plugins active.
In one of my recent posts…
Are You A Plugaholic, where I recommend having as few plugins as possible, John Soares from Freelance Writing commented and got me thinking about sharing the plugins I use in my next blog expert series.
I shall create a 3-part series.
For some this is old news and for others it will be the first time you have heard about it.
If you haven’t heard, Google recently changed its search algorithm.
In very simple terms, Google has decided to ‘penalize’ the websites / blogs that copy other people’s content.
I recently found a top-performing site that was copying my content (and many other peoples content) and it was ranking very high in the search engines.
Google have put their foot down and said ‘no more’. They are no longer tolerating such activity.
It is fairly common knowledge that Google uses the loading time of your blog as part of their ranking algorithm.
Although that is important…even more important is your visitors experience when they visit your site.
We want to read and see what you have to say…instantly…not in 30 seconds…20 seconds…10 seconds time.
We want to read it, watch it, digest it…NOW!
Over the last few weeks I have been studying and experimenting numerous different ways to improve this blog speed.
Some methods worked very well and some totally messed up my site.
I often get asked the following question about the Income Blogging Course:
“Does the course cover auto-blogging?”
And the very simple answer is NO.
Auto-blogging does not fit with our principles or approach to making money via your blog.
Within the course we show you how to find your niche, how to optimize your blog, how to create great unique content, how to build your list, how to get traffic, how to build relationships, how to create products, how to write sales letters, how to outsource…everything that is needed to make money via your blogging on-line business without spending 12 hours a day doing it!
Everyone on the internet wants to be on page one of the Google search engine.
But only one site can claim this top spot. The competition may be hard but not for some. They can do it! And as the saying goes, if they can do it, so can we.
Being on the top spot would mean more traffic.
So, here are some tips and techniques that I have gathered on how you rank as number one on Google’s search engine.

The person (Debbie) in the following video is a member of our Income Blogging Course.
Debbie is known as the Happy Maker and when she joined our course, she won’t mind me saying this…she didn’t have a clue how to blog.
And making a video?
That was just a dream…now we can’t stop her!
Roll forward a few months and Debbie:
- Is in the number one spot on Google for some of her targeted keywords
- Has her own book published
With so many blogs out there, I often find myself getting caught up in trying to work out which ones are the best to comment and guest post on, to get my own blog ranking and profile up.
From a personal perspective, I usually choose to comment or guest post on blogs that I like, that are well-written, and that provide informative material close to my own industry.
The thing is, it can be a challenge to pick out the best sites to either comment on or guest blog for, as there are so many available to choose from.
