The ‘About me’ page is perhaps the most looked at page on your blog.
This is where you get an opportunity to tell your visitors about yourself, your business, your giveaways, your products or services and your policies.
You may also use this page to show your family photos or to discuss your hobbies.
By mentioning these areas, your readers are finding not only about your blog, your services but also a little about you.
Although the ‘About me’ page is about you, it is really about how you are going to help your visitor.
Following on from my post entitled, Eliminate the Fear, today I’d like to share my views on being a perfectionist.
All the gurus say create a free “giveaway” and build your list.
They also say, create your own products.
It’s no surprise, both are great pieces of advice.
To make a blog income, you need a list and to get a list you have to give something away.
To build your own credibility and also make some money from your blog, you want to create and sell your own product.
Back in July this year, Squidoo started cracking down on what you could and couldn’t add to one of their lenses.
Far too many people were adding lens after lens which just talked about affiliate products and gave no advice, whatsoever.
So the inevitable crackdown came. At the time, Squidoo said:
1. No Spam. This one’s not new!
2. No more X-rated or Porn lenses
3. No Junk Topics from our “SquidDon’t” List
4. A new limit on overly promotional lenses
Back in July, there was a huge amount of positive to come from these changes.
We are all followers, aren’t we?
Especially in the on-line world.
We are all looking for that ‘silver bullet’. The ‘silver bullet’ that will make us successful and each day we are bombarded by emails and adverts trying to sell us the latest buzz or hot topic.
Ever fallen for one of those and it turns out to be just a re-hash of something else? But the advert promised it was easy.
Yep, I have as well.
Nowadays if I do sign up for a free report or free something and all I get is emails from the individual trying to sell me something else – I simply unsubscribe.
Most bloggers feel that by uploading content onto their blogs they are providing information that will be believed to be accurate and contribute to their online credibility. However, that it is not always the case.
Information or the straight forward compilation and presentation of facts might seem to provide the power to the blogger to enable him to acquire credibility. But it is not all information that offers power to the information supplier.
The information that a blogger uploads onto his blog must be reliable information.
Establishing a credibility as an internet marketer depends on many components.
I’ve previously spoken about how your credibility starts with your name and your expertise levels.
Another area is your presence in the social media space. It is vitally important who you hang out with and how you interact with people.
As a very simple example: imagine yourself at a conference you are attending as a delegate. You see the list of speakers and you notice that predominantly they are together. There is a kind of aura of expert knowledge attached to them. Then there are some people that are not speakers but also socialise with them.
