In my last post in this short series we discussed, how the small business owner can fail due to being overwhelmed.
In this post we shall discuss a similar situation which is extremely common with small business owners
Trying To Do Many Things At The Same Time
In the first post of being overwhelmed, I was specifically discussing being overwhelmed with too much information and not knowing what to do next.
This trait is around…you know what you want to do but you try and do too much.

Morbid question, I know but it is a serious one, isn’t it?
Seriously, what would happen to your blog if you were to unfortunately die tomorrow?
Would it be taken over by someone else?
Simply disappear?
Well, Brandon Hopkins has written an excellent post on the subject. It certainly gets you thinking and wanting to take action.

From day one we are told to build a list because the money is in the list. So as small business bloggers we quickly create some sort of free giveaway in return for our visitors e-mail.
Then we think we’ve got them.
We think we have the right to bombard our list with recommendations to buy products whether via an affiliate link or our own.
We think, “We’ve given them something for free they should now buy from us”.
But it doesn’t work like that.
Giving something away for free is no longer unique or different… it’s the norm.

If you are a small business blogger and you want to increase your income via your blog then today is the day to take some action.
Today is the last day where you can get 50% off our Income Blogging Course.

After today, we will be closing the doors to new members.
We realize, when it comes to blogging people need a helping hand – they need someone to walk them along the blogging path.
In the Income Blogging Guide Course, we have people from all over the world.
It’s a wonderful feeling when someone writes to you and they ask if they can publish a guest blog post on your site.
Why do I say that?
There are a number of reasons:
1. It means I have a break from having to create a blog post myself
2. I and my readers get to find out about a new blogger and a different perspective on the subject of the blog post
3. The guest blogger hopefully gets some new visitors to this site
4. The guest blogger gets some link love from my site and I feel I’m helping them
Remember when you were a kid, and your Mum used to send you off to the local shop to pick up some milk or a paper?
You’d set off walking, coin in hand, and step in to a local shop which seemed to sell everything.
If you are the same age as me (nearly 50!) you probably have memories of a village store which sold everything from shoe polish to baked beans, bleach to cling film, and a handful of fruit and vegetables.
Am I taking you back to better days?

It would be a bit disappointing if you have been blogging for a while now, but you only get comments here and there. This is just the same as making a speech in public only to hear crickets chirping in the background.
A good blogging friend of mine, Tara Roskell, helps wannabe inventors, ideas people, artists and designers promote their work.
She shares many ideas and resources via her blog, http://ideasuploaded.com.
So…why am I telling you this?
A few weeks back she asked me to do an audio interview with her. The interview would cover how inventors could market and sell their inventions via blogging.
And the audio is now up!
Here are just some of the questions I was asked and answered:
In my previous posts in this Blog Expert Series, I discussed the ‘Mandatory WordPress Plugins Your Blog Should Have‘ and the ‘WordPress Plugins Definitely Worth Adding To Your Blog’.
In this post, I shall share with you the plugins I have installed that I feel are ‘Nice To Have’
Contact Form 7
You can just use the contact page template that comes with your theme but if you want to add certain fields for your customers to enter data in, the Contact Form 7 plugin is simple and easy to use.

Clean Slugs
You have to sign-up to Yoast’s newsletter to get this one but it is worthwhile. It removes common words like ‘a’, ‘the’, ‘in’ from a post’s slug (url) and helps with SEO.

I’ve been known to be a plugaholic. I love WordPress plugins. At one time, I had almost 70 installed.
Even though I have deleted many, I still have over 40 WordPress plugins active.
In one of my recent posts…
Are You A Plugaholic, where I recommend having as few plugins as possible, John Soares from Freelance Writing commented and got me thinking about sharing the plugins I use in my next blog expert series.
I shall create a 3-part series.
