How I Quit My Job To Start My On-line Business

plan bI am so, so lucky (but perhaps sometimes I take it for granted!).

Why am I so lucky?

I work from home. I have done for the past 2.5 years and it’s FAB!

I love it. I work when I want (well most of the time) and I have the freedom to do want I want (to a certain degree).

Of course, it’s not always a bed of roses…I do work hard but it is the freedom, the lifestyle I love. The fact that I can take a break WHEN I WANT TO IS PRICELESS.

Clutter Can Hold You And Your Business Back

I purchased a new computer at the weekend. A faster more updated one. My current PC was getting slow as I was working on more and more client’s sites and opening lots of different applications.

Things were just taking a bit longer than I wanted and it was frustrating.

Problem: I now have to transfer all my applications and data across. It will take me a while to do that.

Solution: I’m going to dedicate an hour a day to getting my new PC up and running.

Another Interview With Me

I was recently interviewed by Brandon Yeager (The Infopreneur).

This one is a video interview.

We had a great time and I share 3 key pieces of advice for people starting out blogging.

Please leave any comments on his site and any re-tweets or shares would be very welcome.

Create Your Own Product That Does Not Sell

Thousands of on-line business owners are creating products that just don’t sell. That’s right…don’t sell.

This is how you can follow them:

1. Decide to create your product based on what you like instead of what the customers needs

2. Do no research and create something that you THINK will sell

3. Don’t check the market for demand

4. Choose a subject which you don’t know anything about

5. Choose a subject that you are not passionate about

6. Make it appeal to a tiny niche

7. Make a sub-standard product

Small Business Owner: How To Fail At Running Your Business

overwhelmedWe often read and hear about on-line small business owners and their ‘overnight successes’.

…especially when someone is trying to sell their latest product or when someone is promoting someone else’s product as an affiliate.

They often tell you how much income they are making…TODAY.

And their income today may be true.

But they VERY RARELY tell you how long it took for them to get to that stage.

It took me 3 years of part-time hours working on my own on-line business and today…I do make a living. I do make a decent income to live a comfortable life.

What Will Happen To Your Blog When You Die?

dead blog

Morbid question, I know but it is a serious one, isn’t it?

Seriously, what would happen to your blog if you were to unfortunately die tomorrow?

Would it be taken over by someone else?

Simply disappear?

Well, Brandon Hopkins has written an excellent post on the subject. It certainly gets you thinking and wanting to take action.

Guest Bloggers: Do This At Your Peril

dummyIt’s a wonderful feeling when someone writes to you and they ask if they can publish a guest blog post on your site.

Why do I say that?

There are a number of reasons:

1. It means I have a break from having to create a blog post myself

2. I and my readers get to find out about a new blogger and a different perspective on the subject of the blog post

3. The guest blogger hopefully gets some new visitors to this site

4. The guest blogger gets some link love from my site and I feel I’m helping them

What Do Small Business Bloggers Do All Day?

small business freedomWhen working as a manager in the corporate world I was often asked by my staff, “what do you do all day?”

They saw me coming in to the office early. They saw me leave the office late. I was often not at my desk.

So I can understand the question.

Now I have left the corporate world and I run my own small business I now get asked the same question by friends.

So I thought what I would do is simply make a note of what I do whie running my small business.

If you are reading this post, chances are you own a blog or are interested in starting one.

It would be a bit disappointing if you have been blogging for a while now, but you only get comments here and there. This is just the same as making a speech in public only to hear crickets chirping in the background.

15 WordPress Plugins Definitely Worth Adding To Your Blog

In this post, I shall share with you the plugins I have installed that I feel are ‘definitely worth adding to your blog’
