Welcome Back! This is a DoFollow blog using both KeyWordLuv and CommentLuv, so please leave a comment and get a link-back to your blog.

You may have seen one of my recent posts entitled, “How to improve page rank by having a link building campaign”
In that post I discuss a report by Steven Clayton and Tim Godfrey.
In summary, the report said if you want to improve page rank…build backlinks.
You can read the full report by clicking here: Does Google really care about content?
So, in this post I thought I would share how you can improve page rank by getting some free backlinks from Google itself and the mighty Digg.
A Google Backlink – PR: 8
The 3 steps needed:
1. Open a Google account by going to:
https://www.google.com/accounts/NewAccount
2. Edit your profile and add all your personal information as required by going to:
http://www.google.com/profiles/me/editprofile
And ensure you ‘check’ the box that says, “Display my full name so I can be found in search”, like this:

3. Now you can add your links by scrolling down to the section that starts with “Links”.

Make sure you use your primary keyword phrase as the backlink description.
Once complete all of your links will be visible on the right hand side of your Google profile.
The Digg Backlink – PR: 8
The steps needed:
1. Open a Digg account by going to:
2. Edit your profile by clicking on ‘profile’ at the top.
3. Click on “Add a Bio & Links”

4. Scroll down to the section headed, “Links and Contact Info”
Simply add your links and make sure you use your primary keyword phrase as the backlink description.

Once complete all of your links will be visible on the right hand side of your Digg profile.
5. Then go to your Profile settings and set your links to be accessible by public. In the ‘Display URLs I add to my profile to’ section, choose the option ‘Anyone’ as shown below:

Complete the above steps and then you have two page rank 8 sites linking back to your sites which will improve page rank.

Commenting on blogs can also be a great way to build thousands of back links quickly. All you have to do is go to the blog and comment regularly enough to become a top commentator. After you are top commentator you will get a site wide link back to your site. Every site you are top commentator on could result in hundreds upon hundreds of back links.

Nevin,
No doubt that would work and thanks for sharing. I would also recommend using http://www.commentsniper.com/ so you are one of the first commentators.

It is nice to have information that is laid out in a step by step manner, as many off us are still trying to get the hang of things.
I would miss things like “display URLS” if I hadn’t seen that here, I will be looking for that in settings on other links that I am creating that are on similar sites.
One thing that I was curious about though is do these backlinks pass any PR back to you since anyone could get them, it seems like Google would figure this out and consider it irrelevant. Any thoughts?

Curtis,
If you like step-by-step you may wish to download my free guide – see the opt-in below (just scroll down a little).
I would imagine Google provides a little link-juice back and as it only takes a few minutes to complete – I find that it is worth it.

I’ve been using this tactics since I start link building, and I agree this is one of the best ways to improve page rank. But I have a question what is the difference between the web 3.0 sites and the web 2.0 sites?
Which is best?
Thanks

the question is if Google itself is considering the backlink from this account page for improving page ranking as this is not really one of those “quality” links they would like to see. Anyhow, it might be somewhat helpful to improve traffic.

I am wondering – with CommentLuv, would the page rank of the blog post be affected? For instance, with all the URLs here from CommentLuv on your commenters, will your own page rank dilute in anyway? Thank you!
