WordPress 2.8.2 ready for download

WordPress have just released a security upgrade. So if you are on wordpress version 2.8 or 2.8.1, it is recommended you download and upgrade to the latest version. This 2.8.2 version fixes an XSS vulnerability. Comment author URLs were not fully sanitized when displayed in the admin. This could be exploited to redirect you away from the admin to another site.

Download 2.8.2 or automatically upgrade from the Tools->Upgrade page of your blog’s admin.

I just upgraded this blog.

When you do upgrade you will receive the following message:

“FeedWordPress has detected that you are currently using a version of MagpieRSS other than the upgraded version that ships with this version of FeedWordPress.”

Simply press the upgrade button and it will update automatically.

How do you know which version you are using?

Login into your WordPress admin area and on the ‘DashBoard’ screen under the section ‘right now’ it will show you the version you are using.

    Hi Andrew
Thanks for the news on WordPress. Is it realy necessary to use the latest version of WP or is there an older version that is better to use?
    Thanks for your continuing assistance

      John,

You don’t need to be on 2.8.2 yet. It’s just for those who have already upgraded to 2.8 or 2.8.1.

Eventually you will have to upgrade to version 2.8+ but I think that is a long way off.

I still have blogs on on WordPress 2.6.3 and 2.7.1
