Do you like unsolicited feedback?

A little while ago, Chris Guthrie, owner of www.MakeMoneyontheInternet.com gave me some feedback on my blog – which I took on board and I made the changes necessary.

Check out that post: free feedback

Last night I was instant messaging with another blogging colleague – this time, Gail the Social Media Marketing Strategist and she asked, “Do you still offer a monthly blog maintenance service? I couldn’t find it on your blog”

I knew I did but guess what…it took me a little while to find it as well!

Gail’s question was perfect feedback…without giving feedback – if you know what I mean.

She couldn’t find my service offering and nor could I. I bet no visitors could!

I did find it eventually. It was ‘hidden’ in my ‘about’ page.

Gail’s question made me think how important feedback is.

We do make decisions and changes in our lives but are they the best decisions and changes?

How do we know what we have implemented is right for the customer without feedback?

We don’t!

I decided to review all my pages and that’s what I’ve been doing today.

I bet you didn’t know I offer a blog set up service for just $99, did you?

And I bet you didn’t know I offer an inexpensive monthly blog maintenance service.

Well I do and I thought I had those offerings in my menu tabs.

Up until today, I didn’t!

You can see I have added a ‘Services’ menu tab

blog set up

And a Blogging Advice menu tab that links to my free blogging guide and Income Blogging Guide Membership course.

So what do you think of my new menu tabs? Is it easier to find what you are looking for? All feedback is welcome!

  1. Unsolicited feedback is oftentimes the best kind as it’s not forced!

  2. Hi Andrew! Love the new look. I like that you made yourself a handy man and well that has always been your logo but the red looks great. How about that report. Changed the cover yet, I’d love to download it again because that’s what I like. Also the theme is quite clean this time, not too cluttered as before. Information is accessible. BTW what plug-ins do you use for the twitter and facebook shares on the left side, really cool renovation!

  3. Hi Andrew,
One never knows where money will come from.
Good to see your services in the navigation bar now.

Btw, we are interested in some of your services (blog maintenance). Is there any way we can discuss this over that phone/Skype (as it is easier for us to describe exactly what we need)?

    Thanks,

  4. Feedback is definately important. But so often we don’t get it because our users/customers just get frustrated and leave when they can’t find what they want.

A good strategy may be to post about the changes we are planning to make, before we make them and explain why we are doing so. Also couldn’t hurt to make sure that they know you are open to receiving and will make use of their feedback.

I’m glad that you’ve made your blog maintenance service more prominent and easier to find. I can highly recommend it to anyone who is thinking of using it as you did an amazing job on my Frugal Living Tips site.

I am more than happy to recommend your service to anyone and have done through my freelancing site. I should have given you more feedback here though;-D

  6. Hi Andrew, I was actually looking for such a link (“blog check service”) just before I emailed you regards my blog. You did it for me for free however, so I’m not complaining haha!

Now before anyone takes that the wrong way and asks Andrew to be doing lots of freebies, Andrew only popped over and spent a few mins checking over the blog. Then he left me some feedback. He did not go back office or start tweaking with plugins or anything of that nature.

In return I intend to be helping Andrew out with something – one favour deserves another in my book!

Nevertheless, I am very grateful to him for what he did, particularly because its very unusual for folks to do things for free online, or it seems to me to be like that (maybe I’m getting to be an old cynic!).

I was going to discuss your post about ‘feedback’ Andrew but seems I got a tad side tracked. Just to say however, its a great point to make – feedback in a positive manner can be wonderfully helpful indeed!

    Kind regards
    Joseph

Too many tabs in the navigation bar become a blind spot for the user..I think you should only focus on essential tabs maybe 5-6 rather than 9 tabs…you should do away with posts, new users, shop, testimonials and search…these are not essential. But that’s just my 2 cents :)

  13. Feedback is very important for anyone. And asking someone else to surf your website is the best thing you can do. Just stand back there and see where he/she goes to see which places are most visible. In your case, your friend noticed it when surfing.
Great you added the tab! Now, it’s definitely more visible.
