Too Much Information!

Too Much Information!

In the first blog posting of this series we discussed the overall benefits of Article Marketing and how it can generate loads more traffic to your site.

In the second we discussed How To Write An Article Headline That Compels Readers to Take Action!

And today, we shall discuss writing the Main Body, the Conclusion / Summary and How To Write An Effective ‘non-selling’ Resource Box that makes visitors click through to your website.

So let’s start with:

The Body

Within the body, you want to make 5 main points to support exactly what you promised in your headline. It would be totally stupid if your main points had nothing to do with the heading or opening.

Each point only needs to be up to 5 sentences. No more.

Remember you are only writing 600 – 800 words, so 5 points each of 5 sentences is easy enough.

Four or six points are also fine. Just because I say 5 points, 5 sentences, it doesn’t have to be five. I am just giving a general guide.

You want the end result to look readable so add in a few sub-headings (for each point if you wish).

The Conclusion / Summary

This is basically a way of telling the reader of the benefits you have outlined and what action they should be taking.

The Article Directory Resource Box

Here’s the killer. You want your readers to read your article and then you want to entice them to click on your website link to find out more information or to opt into your list.

So you want to ‘sell’ but you don’t want to ‘hard-sell’!

Powerful tip: Never sell within the article. Allow your resource box to do all the selling required.

So what do you add to your resource box?

Your Name. I know it’s a bit obvious but some do forget it.

Your Web Site Address. Include the http:// and test it. Make sure it works (i.e. it is clickable)

Your Pitch. Just 2 or 3 sentences, summarized to tell your readers:

  • What you do
  • How you’re going to help them
  • What you offer
  • What’s in it for them?

Call to Action. this is one of the MOST important things to make sure you have in your resource box. You have to let them know what you want them to do!

For example, you could say “You can subscribe to my free xxx newsletter by clicking here”. Tell them exactly what to do.

Here’s an Example of one my resource boxes:

A former college dropout, Andrew Rondeau transformed himself from a $4 an hour garage servant to a Management Expert earning over $500k. Visit http://www.greatmanagement.org/ and grab the FREE course “Discover How to Maximize Your Income and Minimize Your Effort”.

So there you have it – how to put together a killer resource box.

Check out your existing resource boxes, do they have a call to action?

What ideas and tips do you have?

In the next blog posting in this series, I shall share with you “How to Promote Your Articles for Maximum Readership”

Hello Andrew,

I am here reading over some of your entries. Being a newbie, the info can be overwhelming. I know you are busy but can you look at my Yahoo Answers bio and tell me how to improve it.
It is one of my favorite places to learn and share, but I am not sure I have written it well. I know you can’t appear spammy there.

Thank you so very much,
Romona
