Welcome Back! This is a DoFollow blog using both KeyWordLuv and CommentLuv, so please leave a comment and get a link-back to your blog.
So you’ve just set up a blog / website (may be a few days old) and you are all excited.
You can’t wait to promote your services or sell something!
You go to the Google home page and search for the keywords you have used to build your blog / website.
You think “I wonder what position my blog will be in?”
You expect to be, well may be not in position 1, but in the top 5.
You’re not.
You’re not on the first page.
You’re not on the second page!
You change the number of sites to be displayed per search page to 100.
You still cannot see your site.
Your website / blog is no-where to be seen.
You are disappointed, angry.
Welcome to the real world of Internet Marketing, “Google secrets” and Search Engine Optimization.
No-one really knows ‘how you get to be on the first page of Google” (other than a few who work for Google, in a dark secret dungeon of an office somewhere).
But guru’s, experts, ex-Google workers say there are many factors involved.
So I’ve decided to create a series of videos that will help you get you blog / website further up those Google pages.
Here’s the first video explaining how to use a free Google tool to ensure you are using the best keyword phrase.
Just click on the video to start.
And share your ideas and experience in the comments.

I find that Google Adwords is the best free tool and I am using it almost everyday to find the keywords that people search for and sometimes I have to tweak my post a little to include this words in the body of the post!
I am sure that people who work at Google themselves don’t know how Google works
very nice video!

remember it’s not just the number of searches, it is also the amount of competition and that’s why I like Market Samurai – it provides all the information in one tool.

Andrew — awesome tutorial. I am helping out CJ at http://www.creativeace.com. We just launched our computer financing company and were struggling with SEO. I think that’s something that alludes us. I had used Google’s Keyword search, but focused only on the competition bar so we didn’t bother with most of them. After watching this video I reran the keyword search. Even though the competition for the Ad words were high, there were few web sites using those keywords. Since we are not ready to invest in Adwords on such a new company, it was nice that someone explained the columns in layman’s terms so that I felt comfortable using some of the keywords we had originally ditched.
Thanks again for following. Glad that CJ follows you.

Max,
Getting the best and correct keywords is fundamentally important. Get them wrong and all your efforts are wasted. I’m glad you liked the video and best of luck – I shall be watching your progress!

Your article is right on target. Domain name selection, on site SEO and off site SEO all contribute to how quickly the search engines index your site. I got my site to Google’s page 1 #5 in less than 6 months using the proper combination of the big 3 methods. BTW, my main keyword is competing with about 3.5 million pages indexed by Google. Along the way, I threw in some articles as part of my backlinking strategy.

Thanks for the video good explanation, using the right keyword phrases ‘for the website’ is the start and key to your website-marketing, that is what it’s about, and don’t forget that not all phrases will generate revenues so have that in mind as well.

If you try to set up a website and have it rank without doing the proper keyword research you may just be spinning your wheels forever and forever trying to make any type of money on the site. For anybody who is looking to make money from a site, they must do their keyword research and find profitable keywords that don’t have millions of competition that all have high page ranks. I see so many new people saying they started a blog on weight loss and they think they can simply rank for “weight loss” and they don’t realize how hard this would be. Excellent advice in the video for all!

I think that without a good on site SEO and without having proper up to date contents on the site, one shouldn’t dream to impress Google and come on the top page of Google against some competitive keywords. For most of the popular keywords, the intensity of the competition is so high that it’s a very tough job to show the presence even on the first five pages of Google.
Your post and video is quite informative and helpful. Please keep on posting such valuable stuff.

Andrew, you’ve precisely described the start-up period of my own blog (and all new blogs I guess). Right now I am on the stage “Your website / blog is no-where to be seen. You are disappointed, angry” and trying to figure out how to let people know about it, looks like you have a lot of usefult search engine marketing info.

The selection of keywords and optimization is the first step for a successful site. It is true that competition is increasing every day, but fortunately the number of searches increases every month. I think that we have business in the search engines for several years more.

For a person like me who is new in Web development and doesn’t have a sound knowledge of SEO, your post is really helpful and informative. AS far as my little knowledge is concerned, I think selection of keywords for a site or a blog is very important for the fate of that blog or site. If I try my luck for a very highly competitive keyword, the chances are that I will end up with nothing in my hands.

Fortunately, regardless of competition, there are still MILLIONS of untapped keywords ripe for the picking. You just have to get out there and do a little keyword research. Put a little time in to it and you will be amazed at what you come up with…
