Now you have your blog set-up and in place, what are your next steps?
Let me manage some expectations, first.
Blogging can give you an income, it can give you freedom but it doesn’t come for nothing! It takes hard work, commitment and persistence.
If you have all 3 of those traits, you are vastly improving your chances of success.
However, even if you have those 3 traits you can still go wrong.
Some of my personal clients have the 3 traits in vast abundance. But they are so keen to progress they actually lose focus.
That’s a bit of a conflicting statement, isn’t it?
Keen to get on but lose focus?
It’s true.
They are keen to get their blog design just perfect before launching.
Then they are keen to write and publish blog posts every day.
Then they are keen to montize their blog and start making a blog income.
All that sounds great, doesn’t it?
And it is great, don’t get me wrong, but they tend to be blinkered and only concentrate on one thing at a time, all day and sometimes for many days.
For instance, they may spend all day on their blog design or all day writing blog posts or all day writing a free giveaway.
I’m not saying they are not working hard. I’m not saying they are not committed. But what I am saying is they should break up their day into different sections.
For instance, if you work a 7 hour day, split your time into:
Content Creation (3 hours)
Spend 3 of your 7 hours on tasks like these:
- Writing and posting blog postings
- Creating videos
- Creating products to sell
- Changing your blog structure
- Being interviewed, doing interviews
Marketing (2 hours)
Spend 2 of your 7 hours on tasks like these:
- Article submissions
- Blog carnival submitting
- Video uploading to YouTube
- Blog commenting
- RSS links
- Directory links
- Social book-marking
Learning (2 hours)
Spend 2 of your 7 hours learning about posting, blogging, social bookmarking, design, RSS, SEO, tweet, link, affiliates…
That way you are progressing in all areas that make a blog successful, each day.
Of course, there are times when you do want to concentrate and focus on a certain task but that is normally for short periods of time.
And that’s exactly what I am going to be doing during the next few weeks.
You see over the last months I’ve been creating my next course. I’ve asked some blogging friends for some feedback on the course and they want me to go live with the product now! They can’t wait to offer it to their visitors/customers. I must admit the feedback has been much better than I expected.
Problem is, it’s nearly Christmas.
That means shopping, visiting relatives, relaxing and enjoyment, doesn’t it? Oh and my favourite, eating!
That might not sound a big problem but the course I’m putting together is huge – weekly lessons, step-by-step screen images, videos, bonuses, prizes for affiliates, more free giveaways, squeeze pages, sales pages, blog set-up, design plus the actual launch.
Somehow I’ve got to find the time because I want to offer the course. I really hope I can pull it off but I still want to write and publish blog posts, I still want to do marketing and I still want to learn.
Wish me luck and I’ll keep you posted on progress.

I
am very happy to provide a testimonial for Andrew Rondeau. All the parts of
the process of working with Andrew were a pleasure. He clarified what I was
wanting and he delivered it without fuss. He was courteous and prompt in all
his dealings with me. I have no hesitation in recommending Andrew to anyone
who wants work done on their blog.
The
end result is a fantastic site that is attracting a lot more attention
and visitors than my old one.
I've spent insane amounts of money in the past with former webmasters until I discovered Andrew Rondeau.
The best blog builder, and the best blog maintenance, I've ever met is Andrew Rondeau. This fellow is an authentic professional in every sense of the word. He's lightning fast, knowledgeable, competent, a skilled listener. He goes the extra mile. He's able to share his passion for his work and products without being pushy. He as other great internet skills, too, but his most impressive attribute is mastery of website building.
Having worked with Andrew on and off over the last year, I have found him to be very patient, helpful and easy to work with. He is also very knowledgeable, supportive and a true expert.
I
approached Andrew in February 2010, because I needed to enhance the way I communicated
my business.
Without Andrew, I wouldn't even have a blog -- I would still just be sitting here, staring at my computer, feeling confused and helpless. With Andrew, I no longer fear confusion and it's impossible to feel helpless. He exerts any and all necessary efforts to resolve any problem or perplexity -- quickly, kindly, intelligently, up to and including IM exchanges in real time via skype. I would urge anyone at any level of expertise (or not) to make the most of his extraordinary talent.
Andrew is an asset to our ongoing website and social media needs. He responds quickly, accurately, and cost effectively. Andrew plays a consultative role in many aspects to our online needs.
I was introduced to Andrew by a dear friend Corinne Edwards and Andrew as transformed by blog in ways that have reaped results. My membership has gone up and my blog always looks clean and easy to read. Whenever I send Andrew a request to check out - it's ALWAYS prompt and easy to understand. In my humble opinion he is the BEST when it comes to knowledge of the blogging world.
Andrew is the real deal and he knows his stuff! His customer service is superb and he gets your work done FAST! You won't need to wait around for endless weeks to see results. Most importantly he works on the site as if it's his own, thus you are assured that you will get the best quality service. I now give Andrew all of my new and old sites to work on. Trust me; you cannot go wrong with this gentleman!
I have been online since 1996 and in that time I have been involved in the development of almost 400 web sites for my clients. I have worked with a wide variety of vendors and I have to tell you that Andrew @ We Build Your Blog has far exceeded my expectations. In addition to his vast knowledge and expertise, he is a genuinely great guy, who always goes the extra mile. I highly recommend him, in fact I only recommend him now for web development.
I happened to stumble upon Andrew's website (WeBuildYourBlog.com) while searching for blogging services that would help me start my very own blog. I was a total newbie when it came to the blogging world. Fast forward 3 months and not only do I have my own awesome blog, but friends and family are actually asking me how to start their own blog and I am able to set their blogs up for them! In only 3 months under Andrew's guidance I went from total newbie to being sought after. Thanks Andrew!
I
was impressed with the excellent service.
Thank you Andrew for your patience in getting my website and on-line courses on-line and selling. You were fantastic in learning the delivery platform software that I had chosen and you were across the complexities quickly. Your detailed approach in setting guidelines and deliverables bought my focus back to where it should be and got the job done. Thank you for all your efforts it was a pleasure.
Andrew is highly knowledgeable about blogs and very customer service focused. I knew nothing about blogs and Andrew was very kind, patient, pleasant to work with, receptive and responsive. Work was delivered in timely manner and if I need anything done for blog again I would use Andrew. If you are looking for quality work, excellent customer service and someone that really gets YOU and your needs, I recommend Andrew!.
I wanted a stylish website that presented my original abstract art in a visually attractive way. Andrew came highly recommended to me as a "no nonsense" practitioner. He does exactly what he says he will do: I give him the parameters to work within and he provides a quick and precise service. You will receive nothing but the best from Andrew!
Andrew was kind enough to offer up his own time as part of an initiative to make the world a better place, and I was one of the beneficiaries of that effort. He spent an hour with me working on improving my bounce rate; he suggested several helpful strategies. Most importantly, he helped me with some key processes to help speed up my site, which had bogged down considerably with overuse of graphics. Andrew helped me get set up with Rackspace, which helped so much. From a load time of almost 30 seconds, the site sped up to about a 6 second load. Thanks so much, Andrew!
Andrew
is highly knowledgeable about blogs, and you can get your blog up and running
successfully and fast. Andrew has helped me immeasurably with
my blog and he is patient and good natured and a wonderful teacher.
Andrew
has extensive knowledge about internet marketing, SEO and building web
sites/blogs. His course explained everything in an easy to understand
way and I now have a web site that is generating me new clients and
producing income from internet product sales.
Hi, Andrew Rondeau here and this blog, my blog, will not lie to you. I will give it to you straight. This blog is about blogging, the Internet and sharing my experiences and advice on
It is amazing how many people think you just put up a blog and the rest happens overnight! Every single client I have ever had gets annoyed with the traffic (unless you manage expectations of course) after a couple of months! It takes a massive amount of hard work and drive and most importantly time. Time and being patient are the key because if you look at your traffic from month to month instead of day to day you will be sure to see massive growth!

Managing expectations is a great point you raise.
I’ve lost a few clients because I’ve been honest with them and told them about the hard work, etc required and they don’t believe me. They most probably go on to someone who doesn’t manage expectations and are then disappointed.
Andrew
Blog promotion is not so easy, I have read many blogging tips article but most of article say the same things, but for bring your blog top from the crowd you have to own some special strategy, that do not own by other blog.

Love the breakdown. Of course it could be different for everybody depending on concentration levels with different areas, but definitely a good start.

Dennis,
It’s a breakdown that works for me. Just really trying to get across that you need to have a balance in all 3 areas.
Andrew
And you did it well; a perfect “guideline” to start from.

Tbert,
I’ve been scammed before – i.e. purchased some of these so-called quick rich type products and they never work. I might lose a few customers by telling it how it is…but I’d rather be honest and manage expectations.
Andrew
it’s good to find out what really needs visitors, providing the best information, of course, which will benefit from the increasing popularity of your blog, I strongly agree the idea. give your first and will next merima manffat. with a lot of visitors will surely increase sale
Oh, yes brother, been there done that, but the sad part is they are making millions lying and cheating sincere people out of their money. The one’s that offer you a free trial period for a small fee and in the small print, that most never read, is the recurring amount. They will start banging your credit card account and before you can go through the process of getting it canceled, they have socked you for several hundred dollars. What is that proverbial phrase, ONE BAD APPLE CAN ROT THE WHOLE BUSHEL. But we are going to prevail. Keep up the GOOD WORK. THANKS AGAIN, Tbert

Tbert,
Yeah I’ve purchased some of those as well. Why can’t they just be up front and make it real clear?
Andrew
Hey Andrew, and thanks a lot for a refreshing post about the realities of blogging for a living. Ive been a blogger for some time now and firmly believe in structuring my days so that they are not 100% “work”. I like to include a at least a couple of hours of learning as well.

Sam,
Some would say ‘learning’ is also working but it’s nice that you don’t.
I love to learn and share.
Thanks for dropping by.
Andrew
Best of luck Andrew! I know the feeling; I’m pretty much in the same boat. Trying to finalize a product line, and at the same time maintaining my site and working with clients. It’s a handful for sure!
I’m sure it’s going to be fantastic!
