Andrew Rondeau here from webuildyourblog.com.
I’ve mentioned before that getting backlinks is one of the strategies to increase the search engine ranking for your site and hence increase the traffic to your site, to your blog.
And it doesn’t matter if your site is just a few days old or a couple of months old or is what we call aged or a few years old, it doesn’t matter.
The more sites, the more relevant sites that link back to your posts and your articles, deep into your website, the higher your site will rank in the search engines and that simply means more traffic. Now there are numerous ways to increase backlinks to your site.
And today I’m going to show you one, one strategy which not many bloggers use. Some do, some don’t. And that is the strategy of using blog carnivals. I’ve been using blog carnivals for the past year eighteen months for some of the postings I have and I’ve written. And each time my posting is accepted by the blog carnival, I always see an increase in traffic to my site. So, I like blog carnivals, I use them and I’m recommending that you use them as well.
So, what is a blog carnival?
Blog carnival is basically a site which allows other sites and other blogs to submit their postings to.
So this here, Beauty Central, is hosting a blog carnival and a blog carnival is made up of postings relevant to beauty, obviously this is a beauty and skin care blog carnival. And it accepts postings from other blogs on beauty and skin care and publishes them all in one page basically and that’s what they call a blog carnival.
And a blog, there are hundreds of blog carnivals and they will cover everything that you’ve ever thought of and I will show you the different ones in a moment. But going back to this particular blog carnival.
As you can see there are a number of different posts on this one central site. So this particular blog posting here, I’m gonna click on it and it will open it up.
So this is the actual individual posting which someone has written and posted on their site from blogger.net. And they will ask their postings on the actual beautycentral.info blog carnival that will get a backlink from this site to their site.
And if I click on another one, Top Treatment to Get Rid of Acne Scars, that will open up the actual individual posting and again that’s another blog where this posting actually resides and their blog carnival actually puts a link on from here to their particular site.
So they’ve got a backlink from this particular site, beautycentral.info.
And that’s what a blog carnival is. It’s a central site for a number of different blog postings, blog articles, website articles which are held centrally and each time yours gets published you get a backlink from this particular site.
So, how do you submit your sites to the different blog carnivals?
As I said there’s, hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of different blog carnivals covering all the different niches. And if you go to blogcarnival.com.
So it’s blogcarnival.com, this /bc/ automatically comes up and you’ll get to the submission page and this is where all the carnivals are listed.
It says here 250 new carnivals in the past 30 days have been added.
So, yes, there are hundreds of carnivals.
So we come down here, go to the bottom of the page and you’ll see this link here, more blog carnivals. And what this enables you to do is have a quick look at majority of blog carnivals.
But you can also do a search for words for your particular niche. So if you look down here, these are all the different carnivals. And just here, you got fitness, soups, diet, travels, making money, credit loans, another fitness one, another making money one, getting traffic.
If I just skim down here, home, employees, home schools, horse lovers, how does your garden grow. All sorts of niches, all sorts of topics are covered.
The comic book carnival, so if you, whatever niche you’re in, there will be a blog carnival to cover it and I’m recommending use some of your postings, some of your articles to the blog carnivals to get those backlinks.
So how do you get a backlink?
How do you actually submit your, your posting.
So, if I come over here, this is a site I run, freeorganicnews.com, and I’m going to submit this article to a, I want to submit it to this blog carnival, Beauty Central, Beauty and Skin Care.
So I go back to the blog carnival submission page and I put it in here something like skin care and do a search, hopefully this one will come up, Beauty and Skin Care and this is how you submit. Submit your blog article to this carnival.
So, the first thing you do is put in the url. I want you to put in the url. So we’re going to find the url and add some information automatically. So, Organic Skin Care, the Nice and Simple Way, puts in the trackback, puts in the blog url, puts in the blog name.
You just have to put in your name or name you want people to know you by, an email address, select the category for this particular carnival. So, cosmetics for women and then you add some comments. Now the comments are all of this bits here.
So this person, this person here, Cliff, Top Treatment to Get Rid of Acne Scars, this and his comments, he’s put “top remedies for skin care and cosmetics to have a clear and healthy skin”. And what you tend to do is use the first paragraph or two on your actual article.
So I’m gonna cut and paste that in. so my remarks are saying, “The things that you put on your skin enter your bloodstream – etc, etc, etc.
And submit that and then once I submit it, you get a thank you page saying, thanks for the submission.
Now, just because you’ve submitted it to that blog carnival doesn’t mean that it will be accepted because the blog carnival may not like your article, may not like your posting.
Don’t take it personally if it is rejected.
They may have hundreds of submissions but they only picked the top 10 each week.
There maybe an advert in your articles and they don’t like adverts.
Some of the blog carnivals don’t like adverts.
It may not be relevant to the actual blog carnival.
You might submit your article to a blog carnival, let’s say your article is about cats and you submitted it to a blog carnival about horses then they may not accept it.
So, there are certain reasons and it’s there, it’s basically down to them, if they don’t wanna accept They don’t have to.
And if they don’t, don’t take it personally.
Just try next time, keep trying, keep trying.
Obviously, if you have sent it to the wrong type of blog carnival where its completely different niche to what your submissions are, then obviously that is wrong, but sometimes they just don’t accept it because they think that it’s not good enough.
Well, that’s fine, many of mine have been rejected. Don’t worry about it, move on, there’s plenty of other carnivals to submit to.
So if you then wanted to submit this article to another carnival. So you put in, you click on browse the carnivals. Let’s and then you wait for the list of carnivals to come up. And then you put in a search. So you might put in a search for , what else, I might put in organic. Search by organic and then you’ll see the different carnivals which has something to do with organic products come up.
And I could go and submit my articles to those as well.
And as I have just shown you, It takes about 5 mins per blog carnival.
And it depended on your niche. There will be many, many blog carnivals if I was to put in money for instance.
You’ll see that there’s quite a few carnivals to submit to or what you call something to do with money. Oh, wow, there’s lots.
Or if you was to put in blog or blogging or something like that, again, there’s lots. Now if you was to submit your article to all of those, you, that would take you a day.
Normally, you might send it to 6 or to 10 different carnivals, submissions. 6 to 10 this week, 6 to 10 the following, or 6 to 10 different ones for a different article the following week etc, etc.
Now, each article is going to take you 5 minutes, so if you took 6, that’s 30 minutes, with a 10, that’s 50 minutes. Now, I use to do that. I’ve been doing that for the past year or so.
Submitting my articles manually.
Now yesterday I came across a great new tool and yes, I do recommend it. Because it literally takes minutes no matter how many carnivals you want to submit your article to.
And it’s called basically the carnival submitter and this is the actual application here.
So, this is it and in the bottom half of the screen you can see that you’ve got the blog carnival website and on the top here you’ve got the different submissions. So, over this side you put in your article you wanna submit. And over this side, you put in the different carnival you wanna submit.
So, as an example, let’s add an article.
So if you wanna add an article.
So if I go back to my original skin care article, I get in the url. Put in the url there. It doesn’t pick up the title automatically so I’m going to get the title and for some reason I can’t just cut and paste the article.
So I’m gonna cut and paste the whole thing and put it down from here and then cut and paste from there. I don’t know why I can’t do that but I can’t. So, there’s my title.
The URL is gonna be my backtrack as well. The blog URL is just freeorganicnews.com. Blog name is freeorganicnews. I’m the submitter, and my email address. And then some remarks. I’m gonna retype that. So I had that. And up here you can see that it’s added the article and I’ve always had another article, If I go back to my, this page here, I could go on and pick another article.
Let’s, if I wanted to, I won’t but I’ll show you. So again I will just cut and paste this particular article and then add them all here. And then over this side, you actually find the carnivals, the blog carnivals you want to submit to.
But the good thing about this one is once you found them, you can save your lists for the next time.
So, here’s a list of all the carnivals.
So I wanna look down here for some things to do with skin care or organic, that sort of thing.
And as I say when you first set this up, it’s actually gonna take a few minutes but once you set it up for the first time and you submit to the same blog carnivals each week, then, for each article, then you’ve only got to set it up once.
So, aromatherapy, I’m gonna write that one, as an example. So, you write that up here, if you wanted to add a category, you could just say beauty tips. So add a carnival as well.
Let’s have a look at another one.
I’ll just look at a couple.
And then you’ll just get an idea of what it’s like.
I’m just showing you that once you go through and set them up, you gotta find the relevant ones and you tend to go, Green Living blog carnival.
There you go.
Select a category, Eco beauty. And then you add that. And then etc, etc, etc.
So you would add 10 as an example.
Now you can save that list.
Once you’ve set them up, you can save that list.
You can save that as your freeorganicnewslist.
You see I’ve already got my greatmanagement ones or on the greatmanagement website as well.
So freeorganicnews, that’s my list. So, then I click on the article I wanna submit to. I click on the carnivals, and if there was 10, I would click on each of them and you submit the articles. And it asks you for this particular security number, 511149. And in here it shows you what it’s doing, so it’s submitting the article.
Articles was submitted.
Submitting the article.
Article was submitted.
Process completed.
Done.
How long did that take?
If, that’s when I was setting them up in the first place. If I want 10, then it might be 10-15 minutes to find the 10 I want to add to. If I delete that list.
So I’m gonna say delete the article.
Next time I come in, I’d have no article. And I load my list of blog carnivals. And you just submit them.
And that is how quick it is.
And then, obviously they have to be approved by the blog carnival. Just because I’ve submitted, doesn’t mean they’ve approved or will be published.
But they normally leave an email for them telling that they have been published.
And it’s as simple as that.
Now if you want, if you do want to go and have a look at the Carnival Submitter application, the Carnival Submitter software.
There’s a link containing this video. Just have a look.
Click on there and you’ll find extremely, reasonably priced within a couple of hours work, you’ve obviously got the money back. So there is a slight investment upfront, but the amount of time you save is unbelievable.
And I’m always looking for tools and software which is gonna save me time so I can concentrate on creating my own products and creating my own articles and my own postings.
And this is one which has certainly saved me a huge amount of time every week especially as I run a number of different websites. So there we are, I hope that gives you a good flavor of blog carnivals and their submissions in this particular tool, which can help you save a lot of time.
As I said the link us underneath the video, you can have a look at the tool. Click on it, see what you think. I think they give a money-back guarantee as well. So if you don’t like it, you can get your money back.
And that’s it.
So, I’m Andrew Rondeau from webuildyourblog.com and speak to you soon.
All the best.
Thanks.
Bye.

Andrew was kind enough to offer up his own time as part of an initiative to make the world a better place, and I was one of the beneficiaries of that effort. He spent an hour with me working on improving my bounce rate; he suggested several helpful strategies. Most importantly, he helped me with some key processes to help speed up my site, which had bogged down considerably with overuse of graphics. Andrew helped me get set up with Rackspace, which helped so much. From a load time of almost 30 seconds, the site sped up to about a 6 second load. Thanks so much, Andrew!

I happened to stumble upon Andrew's website (WeBuildYourBlog.com) while searching for blogging services that would help me start my very own blog. Fast forward 3 months and not only do I have my own awesome blog, but friends and family are actually asking me how to start their own blog and I am able to set their blogs up for them! Try manually adding your posts to Blog carnivals first and see if they make a difference. If they do – you can then buy the tool.
